Ed Secretary Arne Duncan pressing for MORE SCHOOL

Molly sent this. Arne Duncan is another dangerous Obama Regime Radical intent on usurping the role of parents and restructuring America to make children property of the state - as they are in countries like Cuba. Reporting on this regime is like playing Whack-a-Mole. In the highest echelons, so many radical agenda, so little time! Old Arne's been on this increasing the school's grip since he got on board - still hasn't given up. Extra bonus: Arne Duncan passed out drunk at his high school prom

Is Staying Home With Kids a Societal Good?

This is exactly the kind of story that really makes me worry about America. It's not a story of shadowy terrorists with suitcase bombs, nefarious spies, or foreign madmen plotting our destruction.

I honestly believe this is worse.

The Daily Caller reports:

If Education Secretary Arne Duncan has his way, kids would be spending a lot more time at school -- and a three-month summer would be a thing of the past.

Duncan joked with attendees at a luncheon at the National Press Club Tuesday in Washington that he would like schools to stay open 13 months out of the year. Then he told the audience of over 100 that he seriously supports longer school hours.

"In all seriousness, I think schools should be open 12, 13, 14 hours a day, seven days a week, 11-12 months of the year," Duncan said. "This is not just more of the same. There would be a whole variety of after-school programs. Obviously academics would be at the heart of that. But you top it off with dancing, art, drama, music, yearbook, robotics, activities for older siblings and parents, ESL classes."
You have to ask yourself why? And the answer is so ridiculous that once you see through the smokescreen you see that this is about control of your children. They don't trust you to raise your children. They know better.

So why does Mr. Duncan think we need longer school days and years?

Daily Caller reports:
"As you guys know, our world has changed, our economy has changed," said Duncan. "The days of telling kids to go home at 2:30 and having mom there with a peanut butter sandwich, those days are gone. Whether it's a single parent working one, two, three jobs or two parents working, the hours from 3 o'clock to 7 o'clock are a huge anxiety, and that's why we have to keep our schools open longer."
So let me get this straight. Many parents can't be home with children when they come home at 2:30 and that's bad so instead of giving parents tax breaks or incentives to stay home with their children they decide to spend more taxpayer money to keep schools open 12 months a year and 12 hours a day making it harder for parents to be able to afford to stay home because they have to pay for all these programs.

My emphasis below - horrifying to think that teachers are forced to join and pay dues to a union that sends millions to anti-life, anti-family groups.

Education Establishment is Not a Friend of the Family

Summertime means the annual National Education Association Convention.   The National Education Association (NEA) is the largest professional organization and labor union in the U.S. and its influence on education reaches around the world.  Their power and influence extends from the walls of the school room to legislative halls as they promote and finance various candidates and initiatives and work to assure their ideology is entrenched in culture.  But what many people may not know, including teachers and parents, is that the NEA is not a friend of the family.

In addition to such groups as the "Lesbian, Bisexual  and Transgender" Caucus and the silly "No Cocktail Left Behind" Caucus, this year saw the recognition of the "NEA Drag Queen" Caucus.  In fairness to the NEA, they also recognize such groups as the Ex-gay Educators, People of Faith, and Catholic and Jewish Caucuses, but the nonsensically-tolerant and politically-correct NEA has an agenda that ought to concern all people who want their schools teaching education basics and not promoting anti-family propaganda to our children.

United Families International has written about the NEA in the past but we thought we'd provide you with an update and a few examples of NEA activity.

Abortion

This year's convention in New Orleans once again saw the defeat of an abortion neutrality resolution.   However, each year since 1990 this resolution has been reaffirmed:

"The NEA supports family planning, including the right to reproductive freedom....  The NEA will oppose any legislation which will erode the status of Roe v. Wade..."

The NEA has over 3.2 million members in the U.S. and hardly any of them know that the union that they pay annual dues to is one of the most ardent abortion supporters in the country and that their dues may be helping finance pro-abortion efforts around the world.

Homosexual Advocacy

The NEA is squarely in the back pocket of gay advocates.  The Wall Street Journal reported (2006) that the NEA gave $65 million to liberal groups such as the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the Human Rights Campaign, and People for the American Way.  They oppose the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and in 2009, a resolution was passed to oppose any efforts to put in place amendments banning same-sex unions or marriage . . .

Unmasking the NEA - part 1

The National Education Association - the teachers' union - is at the top an extreme radical left operation with a history of promoting social engineering through the public schools - advocating homosexual curriculum and denouncing Christian parents.

Just one of the traditional institutions - like the American Library Association and the PTA - which has been co-opted by self-styled intellectual elites whose thinking is way outside mainstream America. These institutions are now trading on their long-venerated names while deconstructing everything most American families hold dear. And parents busy raising families and making ends meet remain in the dark about their radical agendas, which are shaping our children's future.

Teachers' union promotes Mao's launch of 'People's Republic'

Editor's note: After this report appeared, the reference to the founding of Chairman Mao's "People's Republic" was removed from the NEA website.

The National Education Association is suggesting its teachers and NEA-connected schools celebrate China on the anniversary of the repressive communist regime's violent founding.

The NEA's website has a page called Diversity Events and lists Oct. 1 as the day to celebrate Chairman Mao's successful revolution.

University of North Carolina-Wilmington criminal-justice professor Mike Adams says the NEA's position is borne out of intellectual arrogance.


"Well, the next thing you know they'll be celebrating the birth of Nazi Germany, but certainly that would be anticlimactic, because communist China has killed more people than Nazi Germany," Adams said.

"I think the only one way to describe the arrogant hubris of these pseudo-intellectuals is that they're 'holier than thou,'" Adams said.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama tried to revive his common touch on Thursday with a mainly light-hearted appearance on daytime television where five women hosts grilled him about his Blackberry, Lindsay Lohan and the Afghan war.

His appearance was the first by a sitting U.S. president on a daytime talk show. It allowed Obama to appeal directly to a targeted audience as he fights flagging poll numbers while he and his fellow Democrats try to avoid big losses in the November congressional election.

So hard to respect a leader who would stoop this low. And what does the existence of someone like Joy Behar on TV say about our culture? And what does it say about Obama that he avoids serious press conferences in DC, choosing instead to fly to New York, tying up their traffic and spending out money so he can yuk it up with these softballs. Btw, did you hear he said blacks were mongrels? Imagine if Bush . . Palin . . .Rove said that?

In submitting, was taken to - guess what? - a fundraising page. Why is it wherever these two jet set better-than-us pretenders go, they are calling for money - for themselves or whatever groups they determine should have it.

Do you remember when our days were free of having the president's (and the queen's)visage before us every minute? Just heard on the radio he is having a sub at another endless campaign stop - to demonize Congress for not obeying his demand for more TARP funds.

This has been a big -- and hectic -- year for him. After signing the Affordable Care Act and Wall Street reform into law -- and completing his first year as president -- I think it's safe to say we will remember it for a long time.

And I know full well how much he credits this movement, and the work of supporters like you, for the change that we've accomplished.

So I'm putting together a birthday card that I would like you to sign. Together with supporters -- and me, Malia, Sasha, and Bo -- we'll wish him a happy birthday and let him know that we're ready to take on the year ahead alongside him.

WASHINGTON -- President Obama says he can relate to the plight of Americans striving in the struggling economy to pay bills while saving for their kids' education.

He says he and first lady Michelle Obama took a hit like everybody else when the economy nearly collapsed, telling ABC that a college fund for daughters Malia and Sasha has gone "up and down" with the stock market.

Obama says the first couple is "not that far removed from what most Americans are going through." He tells the network "it was just a few years ago that we had high credit card balances, we had two kids, thinking about college. We had our own retirement accounts, wondering if we were going to be able to get enough assets in there."

We are Serfs: Obama's feudal system

The Constitution of the United States of America under President Barak Obama is being transformed from a nation of "We the People" to "We the Serfs."

If we look at the flow of rights from a historical perspective, it would look something like a pyramid, with the king at the top and the serfs at the bottom.

All of the rights came from God. God delivered all of the rights and property into the hands of the king. The king was the owner of all of the land in his realm. Based on their loyalty and prowess in battle, the nobility would earn from the king titles and lands. The serfs worked the land for the nobility, and the nobility let the serfs keep a portion of what they produced for themselves. The remainder was paid to the nobility in tribute. The nobility then passed part of the production of the serfs back to the king. Rights flowed from the king to the nobility and then down to the serfs, who had virtually no rights and certainly no property.

The founding fathers knew that rights flowed from God to individuals, not the king. These are natural rights. The founders inverted the pyramid to look like the following.

The founding fathers looked to the writings of John Locke and others. Locke's Second Treatise of Government, Concerning the True Original Extent and End of Civil Government, states:

The state of nature has a law of nature to govern it, which obliges every one: and reason, which is that law, teaches all mankind, who will but consult it, that being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions: for men being all the workmanship of one omnipotent, and infinitely wise maker[.]

This foreshadows the most famous line in the Declaration of Independence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

To secure these rights, individuals formed larger groups to protect these rights. The collection of individuals became towns, then states, and ultimately a nation. The founding fathers designed a Constitution in which the individual is supreme.

Modern-day progressives, now known as liberals, have come to dominate the current Democratic Party. President Obama seeks to flip the pyramid back to the historical perspective.

The Eisenhower Interstate System (This one may or may not be true)

The Eisenhower interstate system requires that one-mile in every five must be straight. These straight sections are usable as airstrips in times of war or other emergencies.

Angel Falls

The water of Angel Falls in Venezuela drops 3,212 feet (979 meters). They are 15 times higher than Niagara Falls.

Obama disses Boy Scouts for The View, fundraisers

Obama Missing Historic Boy Scout Jamboree for Fundraisers, 'View' Taping

President Obama will make history as the first sitting president on a daytime talk show when he visits with the ladies of "The View." But he'll be missing out on another historic occasion -- the Boy Scouts' Jamboree marking the group's 100th anniversary, right in the president's backyard. 

The Jamboree kicked off this week at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, where organizers had invited the president to speak to the 45,000 scouts in attendance. All three of Obama's predecessors have made it to one Jamboree while in office

But the president will instead be traveling Wednesday to New York for a taping of the ABC show, as well as Democratic fundraisers and a stop in New Jersey. The talk show appearance comes as campaign season moves into full swing, but also amid efforts to cap the Gulf oil spill for good, contain the damage from an unprecedented leak of Afghanistan war documents and battle Arizona over its immigration law -- set to go into effect Thursday. Obama also has an out-of-town event planned for Friday in Detroit. 

But while the Jamboree lasts until next Tuesday, the president is sending his regards via a videotaped message.

Remember:  The Gay Political Machine hates the Boy Scouts for not accepting gay scout leaders and foregoing government funding in order to stand by their convictions.  With the ACLU, they have done their best to keep Boy Scouts from meeting in public schools, having notices sent home in backpacks, etc.

They would be very unhappy if Obama honored the Boy Scouts with his revered presence - which they have enjoyed for assorted White House functions.

But actually it's better for The Big 0 to reveal who he trly is - what his real priorities are, than to subject the BSA to an insincere appearance.

Can't wait for 2012!  We will never forget these insults and slights to America's institution, nor the constant campaigning at taxpayer expense.

Diversity and the Myth of White Privilege

America still owes a debt to its black citizens, but government programs to help all 'people of color' are unfair. They should end.

The NAACP believes the tea party is racist. The tea party believes the NAACP is racist. And Pat Buchanan got into trouble recently by pointing out that if Elena Kagan is confirmed to the Supreme Court, there will not be a single Protestant Justice, although Protestants make up half the U.S. population and dominated the court for generations.

Forty years ago, as the United States experienced the civil rights movement, the supposed monolith of White Anglo-Saxon Protestant dominance served as the whipping post for almost every debate about power and status in America. After a full generation of such debate, WASP elites have fallen by the wayside and a plethora of government-enforced diversity policies have marginalized many white workers. The time has come to cease the false arguments and allow every American the benefit of a fair chance at the future.

I have dedicated my political career to bringing fairness to America's economic system and to our work force, regardless of what people look like or where they may worship. Unfortunately, present-day diversity programs work against that notion, having expanded so far beyond their original purpose that they now favor anyone who does not happen to be white.

In an odd historical twist that all Americans see but few can understand, many programs allow recently arrived immigrants to move ahead of similarly situated whites whose families have been in the country for generations. These programs have damaged racial harmony. And the more they have grown, the less they have actually helped African-Americans, the intended beneficiaries of affirmative action as it was originally conceived.

Lyndon Johnson's initial program for affirmative action was based on the 13th Amendment and on the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which authorized the federal government to take actions in order to eliminate "the badges of slavery." Affirmative action was designed to recognize the uniquely difficult journey of African-Americans. This policy was justifiable and understandable, even to those who came from white cultural groups that had also suffered in socio-economic terms from the Civil War and its aftermath.

The injustices endured by black Americans at the hands of their own government have no parallel in our history, not only during the period of slavery but also in the Jim Crow era that followed. But the extrapolation of this logic to all "people of color"--especially since 1965, when new immigration laws dramatically altered the demographic makeup of the U.S.--moved affirmative action away from remediation and toward discrimination, this time against whites. It has also lessened the focus on assisting African-Americans, who despite a veneer of successful people at the very top still experience high rates of poverty, drug abuse, incarceration and family breakup.

Those who came to this country in recent decades from Asia, Latin America and Africa did not suffer discrimination from our government, and in fact have frequently been the beneficiaries of special government programs. The same cannot be said of many hard-working white Americans, including those whose roots in America go back more than 200 years.

Supervision Provided: Minimum of 4 to 1 ratio and grouped by age and ability. All Staff have significant experience working with special needs populations, and are CPR/ First Aid certified

Requirements: All participants, ages 6 through 21, have a disability or are siblings of an attending child; must be toilet trained or rarely have accidents; able and willing to follow directions and stay with the group; enjoys and able to access water activities/pool; pose minimal aggression concerns, and do not present any significant elopement risk.

Activities: Indoor Swimming in an indoor water park, arts/crafts, computer fun, climbing wall, gymnasium ball fun, exercise equipment (age 12 and up while being supervised), in-door track.

Fee: $60.00, Additional Child: $40.00

Snack after swimming: Bring your own in a back pack. Snack machines available.

Shirley Sherrod and her husband - far from heroes

shirley sherrod code pink.jpgWondering what happened to the hot Shirley Sherrod story the media couldn't get enough of last week?

Quick refresh:

  • The NAACP denounces the Tea Party as racist.

  • Andrew Breitbart releases video showing NAACP speaker Sherrod in what appears full-racist mode. Before most of us can say Shirley Sherrod, she resigns st the insistence of her USDA boss Tom Vilsack (supposedly under pressure from the White House). The NAACP, in an unusual effort to be consistent, denounces her.

  • The full videotape is released, revealing Mrs. Sherrod telling a tale of her supposed redemption from her former admitted racism. Andrew Breitbart and FoxNews are now targeted. Mrs. Sherrod - accorded full Instant Rosa Parks status - appears on every TV show known to man to say Breitbart, FoxNews and anyone opposed to Obama's policies is racist. A few people notice this perspective seems a little - well, a little racist.

  • The phrase "out of context" becomes the talking point of the day - with no apologies to conservatives who've been taken out of context by the Propaganda Press forever. Hey, maybe that should be the name of the book she is sure to sell!

  • Mrs. Sherrod is offered begged to accept a promotion. She declines. Perhaps because - as she says - she may sue Beitbart. If she ends up only a week out of work and with a raise and promotion, it's hard to collect for damages, after all. Besides, she says, she may want to just go fishing. And with Obama now paying well over two years in unemployment checks for each "unemployed" individual, why not?

  • The NAACP blames Breitbart for their mistake in denouncing Sherrod, even though they had the full tape in their possession and Breitbart did not.

  • Mrs. Sherrod says - loud and strong, prompted by interviewers - that she wants President Obama to call her. He does - a 7-minute call in which he apologizes and she makes further demands: that he come to Georgia and that he bring Michelle.

  • Joan Walsh, managing editor of Salon, publishes a glowing digging-deeper sort of report on Mrs. Sherrod's husband, expressing gratitude that this unfortunate incident has at least exposed not one, but two civil rights heroes we might never have known

  • On Friday, Mrs. Sherrod arrives for a Propaganda-Press-propelled reunion with the Spooners - the white couple whose farm they claim she saved.

Mrs. Sherrod's ride on the rollercoaster of fame was interrupted by a sweltering weekend, and should have resumed where it left off.

So why didn't it?

Well, first of all, Mrs. Sherrod looks wiped out: Sherrod: 'I Didn't Want' Obama to Apologize

But second of all Joan Walsh's puff piece caught the eye of Dan Riehl and he went to work over the weekend to dig even deeper than Ms. Walsh.

Sherrod: "We Must Stop The White Man And His Uncle Toms ..."

First, a note of heartfelt appreciation for Joan Walsh of Salon. Her moving post on Charles Sherrod - in defense of his wife, Shirley - provided the inspiration required to dust off my Google skills. I simply had to fulfill her stated desire to share the actual words of Civil Rights icon Charles Sherrod with her readers, so touched was I by her profound tribute. And she's been swamped on TV, justifying Shirley Sherrod calling Fox and Andrew Breitbart racist. I can only hope she will be kind enough to direct her readers here, so we can all share his unique wisdom on race relations together, as one. That is, after all, the way it should be, is it not, Joan?

The civil rights heroism of Charles Sherrod

Andrew Breitbart sure picked the wrong people to symbolize black "racism."

If there's anyone more clueless about our civil rights history than Breitbart, as well as more abusive to it, I'm challenged to think of who it might be. He tests my commitment to nonviolent social change, but I'll share the work of Charles Sherrod to remember my values.

If I get a chance to talk to Charles Sherrod, I'll let him tell you what he thinks, in his own words, here.

Okay, Joan, though I do confess to being somewhat puzzled by the first quote I stumbled upon, especially as it came relatively recently - a full year after America had installed its first black administration in the White House.

Charles Sherrod: "We must stop the white man and his Uncle Toms from stealing our elections."

Gee, Joan, can you tell me what's so heroic about telling a room full of young black minds not even out in the world, yet - that if they ever embrace political, or socio-economic ideas that don't jibe with your hero's, the one elevated in a room before them, that they will be denounced as race-traitors? That is what Uncle Tom means, after all. What REALLY is heroic in that? It looks to me like what your hero does is build up their black identity to an extreme, then sends them a message that, if they don't vote, or act the way he wants them to, he and his community make them outcasts, stripping that very identity from them as traitors to their race. Is that the message heroic Civil Rights leaders are passing on to young blacks today? It sounds like it to me, Joan.

Maybe it's your hero's racism there that keeps young blacks on the Democrat plantation year after after, generation after generation - and not some non-existent racism you imagine on the other side. Why is your hero poisoning young minds, Joan? Or, is that just too much for you to grasp?

Of note: The Sherrod's daughter, apparently born in the late 60's, is named Russia. Their son is named Kenyatta.

And there is another reason the Regime/Ministry of Truth may have decided to jump off this bandwagon as the Sherrods received over $300,000 as part of a multi-billion dollar settlement by our government for black farmers who'd been discriminated against. The problem is that more black farmers have been paid than ever existed, and it appears that - as with so many over government programs - people have learned to gain the system.

This is way too complex for the Propaganda Press, who are probably just hoping Mrs. Sherrod will be happy going about her lawsuit and adding to the last one.

But one thing is for sure: this is certainly no Rosa Parks.

I feel strangely and excitedly enlightened today, and it was the NAACP who has shown me that light! What an exciting time white folk live in! Just when I thought that all hope of being gloriously guilt free in their racism had been squashed by such things as decency and common sense, the NAACP has shown us how. Yes, you too can be free from the shackles of political correctness, free to be as racist as you want to be.  All you must do is declare that you are a Democrat!

As a Democrat, you now have carte blanche to say whatever messed up, incoherent, dismissive, and racist comment you can mutter; and you don't even have to say you were drunk, Mel Gibson!

Imagine being an entrenched member of the KKK, using that association proudly to get elected to the Senate, where you get to bring that ideology, unchallenged!  Filibuster the Civil Rights act? No problem, just apologize, say that you did what you did for political expediency. And when you die, expects a hero's burial, and even those you oppressed will be there to say nice things about you. You're a Democrat silly--no harm no foul. Ahhh, the freedom!

If you have the temerity to simply not be racist, to take people of all colours and sexes as they are, based on the content of their character, well then you are quite simply a racist moron, bucking for punishment. Declare quickly, "I'm a Democrat!" Poof...all is forgiven.

NEW YORK (AP) - ABC's "The View" has welcomed many notable guests, but none more prominent than President Barack Obama, who is scheduled to visit for Thursday's edition.

In making the announcement on Monday, executive producers Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie said this marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has visited a daytime talk show.

They said the majority of the hour will be devoted to Obama's appearance, which will touch on topics including jobs, the economy, the Gulf oil spill and family life inside the White House. It is scheduled to tape on Wednesday.

"We are so pleased and honored," Walters said.

Maddy's Little Women curls

Samantha (oldest daughter), Trinity (her oldest daughter), Sophia (#3 daughter) and I are all going to see Maddy (#4 daughter) in Little Women this afternoon.

(Next week are the last two performances - so if you're going, get your tickets now).

Going out for dinner afterwards - five of us from male-dominated families spending girl time. Hope we remember how to act like ladies :)

This is Maddy's sixth performance of LW, so including dress rehearsals, she's curled her hair herself a dozen times - becoming very accomplished at it:

Vitamin D deficiency - who knew?

vitamin d.jpg I've been in a steady decline for a few weeks, which worked itself into a freefall healthwise last week. Had been to the doctor the week before for a UTI and thought I would be on my way to recovery, but just kept getting worse. Going to bed at 7:30 and waking up in the morning feeling already too tired to get up. Feeling like my head was wrapped in cottom like a Q-tip and I wasn't really here at all.

Yes, I was still blogging, but slowly, using every ounce of will - and falling way behind on other fronts.

Anyway, the good news is that my labwork revealed a cause: a Vitamin D deficiency. Gosh, I hadn't thought about Vitamin D since learning about rickets in fourth grade. Who knew I had to keep that on my radar?

The doctor prescribed massive doses of Rx Vitamin D which I take once a week. He said it will take 6-8 weeks to to get back to normal. But I already feel a little better after my first dose.

So be expecting lots of posts and giveaways and answered email this week. . . I'm rarin' to go! Well, almost. . .

But one thing's for sure: Vitamin D is a new BFF.

Community Board 1 meets on Tuesday at 6:00 PM at Dance New Amsterdam, 280 Broadway, 2nd Floor (entrance on Chambers and Elk Streets). Despite reports that the vote was unanimous, it was not. 29 voted for the Islamic supremacist mosque, 4 against, and 9 abstentions.

We need to be there! ALL OF US. It is critical that the world sees we will not go away and that we won't back down. We need to be orderly and civil, but we need to let these people know we will not back down. The LPC is expected to vote at one of its upcoming meetings, probably in August.

In Staten Island, an average of 150 members of the community have protested every Sunday for six weeks against the planned sale of the convent building to the Muslim American Society (MAS), the public face of the Muslim Brotherhood. There is are reams of documentation tying the leaders of the MAS with Hamas and other terrorist organizations.

Finding loved ones lost to institutions

Remember Where's Molly? - the story of Jeff Daly finding his long-lost developmentally disabled sister? Jeff and his wife Cindy, of Larkspur California have not only been spending time catching up with Molly, but have been instrumental in changing laws to open up records enabling everyday people to find relatives lost to institutionalization.
