Valentine's Day at the Curtises'

When our kids asked me yesterday where Tripp and I were going for Valentine's Day, I said we weren't going anywhere.  They looked kinda shocked and so I smiled mysteriously and said , "Valentines Day is for amateurs,"  which my teenagers thought was pretty funny because they always equate our having a lot of kids to their dad being one hot papa.

My son Josh got engaged tonight.  He'd been planning to take Hattie for a hike up the hill where they first noticed each other at a bonfire two and a half years ago.  But it's been snowy drizzle here and so he had to nix that idea.  They went to dinner and he got down on one knee and asked her and gave her the ring. She was completely surprised!  What made it better was that the youth pastor and his wife and children (they took their kids to dinner on Valentine's Day -- isn't that sweet?)  happened to be there to congratulate them -- along with everyone in the restaurant.

I told my boys when we left California that we were bringin' 'em to Virginia to find good wives.  Josh didn't waste any time.

Love,

Congrats to your son - and to you! :)

My husband proposed on Valentines three years ago. Although some women think Valentines is not a good day to propose, I guess because lots of other people do it on that day, I for one am glad Valentines is our engagement anniversary. Every year since we've had so much fun reminiscing over it, laughing together, and rehashing good memories.
