Chicken Soup for the Soul
Yay!
I just received notice that one of my stories, "Good News on a Paper Route" will be published in Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul II.
That's my third Chicken Soup. My first two are in Chicken Soup for the Christian Woman's Soul: "Getting Out of God's Way" and "Chapel of the Wash and Dry." If you have this book, be sure to read them and tell me what you think :)
Anyone interested in submitting their own stories to Chicken Soup can do so online at Chicken Soup. They've probably got a couple hundred titles by now and always are publishing another.
One suggestion: Every magazine or story collection has a standard format. Study and analyze the stories already published, then format your own to give the editors what they are looking for. Also study the guidelines carefully and follow them. You can't just do your own thing and expect to be published.
One thing you should know about Chicken Soup: It can take forever for them to respond, because it depends on what books are coming up and they get tens of thousands of submissions. I submitted this story a couple years ago and forgot about it until I received notification today -- but it is still months away from publication.
