Lookin' good . . . .
Here is what happens when you try to increase your child's independence by telling him to go pick out some clothes and get dressed:

Well, at least they're right side out and in the same color family (loosely speaking)! And how could you possibly burst his bubble when he's feeling so good about himself? Time for developing fashion sense later.
Oh, and this fish-eye mirror is an example of hanging pictures and mirrors at lower levels so children can enjoy them (although I must have hung this one when Justin was a little shorter):

What a cutie! My daughter (she's 2) picks out her own clothes--in fact, she changes them several times a day, so she never matches. I find it very amusing!

I will praise God and call the newspaper the day my son dresses himself looking like that! Three cheers for independence!

He's so adorable!
We've seen the advantage of something at "kid" level. In my son's room, the full length mirror on the closet door comes down just to his height. He stops by it every time he goes in or out of his room. I just said to my dh that that was one of the best "accidental" things to happen to us with the baby.

My son David once came down stairs dressed in a blue and green t-dyed shirt and a pair of plaid blue and green shorts (think golf), He was so proud of himself because the colors matched just the way I had shown him. My eyes hurt just thinking about that outfit but he wore it all day and happily showed Daddy when he came home. I was thankful when he outgrew that combination. My daughter who is three has an easier time. She only acknowledges two colors, PINK and NOT pink.

Oh my word! I actually thought at first that you had a picture of my son on here! As I scrolled down to see the picture I was startled because at first it looked like a picture of my little guy with DS. Then I realized that of course you couldn't possibly have a picture of Zac on your website because you've never met him before! LOL! What a cutie you have. And he has every reason to be proud.

Obviously your son got his fashion sense from my youngest child. One of the pitfalls of being a scatterbrained mother of many, with that particular child, is that I have --- more times than I'd like to admit --- first noticed what he was wearing on Sunday while we were all sitting together in the front pew.
There have been ragged jeans.
Nice shorts (this is California) that displayed the fact that he had on one blue sock and one red sock.
Pants that were too small...way too small!
Odd combinations, such as nice slacks with an ugly tattered t-shirt ("But it's my favorite!")
Perhaps the worst was when he decided to borrow a pair of shoes from a much-older brother.
These things woud have mortified me as a younger mother and driven me to escape town under cover of darkness, never to return. Now I'm still mortified, but less so, and I also see the humor in it all.
