More on the stupid squabble
I am sorry that this entry is necessary to clear some misrepresentation about me at another site.
Yesterday I deleted three *3* emails from the Christian "Nice Patrol" which exhorted me not to exhort someone else. Today I am accused by Certain Blogger of only wanting to look good. That's not it. It's just that none spoke to the issue of treating people with disabilities as objects. Therefore, I responded to them privately and did not publish them.
Also, Certain Blogger has in the past deleted my comments as well as those of readers here. She has mentioned me without linking. And she has taken my stuff out of context - all of which cause her to complain bitterly so her supporters cry "Shame, shame" at me. Can anyone say Double Standard?
Let me repeat what I wrote in a comment yesterday:
Although I have taken some heat from the Christian "nice patrol" - you know, like once you become a Christian you give up the right and responsibility to confront what needs to be confronted - I still feel this post was in order.
As mother of four boys with disabilities, I've not only earned the right but have the obligation to defend those with disabilities. Just as it would be inappropriate for a bunch of white people to discuss issues as they pertain to African-Americans, it is inappropriate for those outside the disability community to discuss any limitations on those within. I will say it again: insensitve and elitist.[I appreciate the supportive comments I've received, but I don't NEED them. I am not one to manipulate others into defending me against detractors. Popularity isn't my goal. Telling the truth is. As my hubby says, "It's not who's right, but what's right."]
People who write are responsible for their words - not just as they are intended, but as Veronique pointed out in her comment yesterday - as readers perceive them..

We are having issues in Pennsylvania at the state level where politicians have decided to cut funding for special programs and aid for people with special needs. This upsets me bacause during the same week this cut came, they past a 14% pay increase for all state official. Certainly, if our Govenor or Representatives had a child with a disibilty this would not have happened. Their decisions don't effect their lives and therefore don't have the need to fight for us. They are supposed to represent the people and give us a voice. I guess "people" doesn't cover special needs.

Barbara, I hope you didn't think I meant it was your ultimate responsibility for how your words are taken, only that you should try as far as you are able to make your readers hear what you intended. Readers have responsibilities too.
I just finished a week of VBS, which I initiated, scripted, enlisted for, and directed. Which makes me responsible for a lot of problems. Now for a break.
no need to post this; I'm just saying hi.
