Scrubbing floors
It's been a month since I fulfilled my last book contract and I am so catching up on stuff I have let go. Today I am going to be scrubbing the kitchen floor - you know, the kind of scrubbing when the mop is just not going to do the job anymore, so it's hands and knees and scrub brush and bucket of vinegar water. I started planning this last night. I usually don't get the urge to scrub my kitchen floor unless I'm having a baby. But it's been 12 years since that happened, so I don't know what's going on :)
I do know one thing: When the Spirit moves, I will too!
So I will blog later, after my knees are red and my nails are all broken. I still have to share the story of my friend who's been a wonderful mother in spite of/because of a disability. And also the New York Story.
All coming up soon. . . .
I do so appreciate all the comments. I am thinking of setting up a baby blog - that is, a baby of this blog for keepng track of who's expecting when, plus mothering questions, tips, stories, etc. That would also give mothers without their own blogs a place to ask questions and help other people. What do you think? Are there already enough forums for that? If so, where can others go to find them?
In the meantime, readers with questions they want to throw out there can email me, letting me know whether to use your name or not.
I really liked the way everyone rallied around Angela with labor and delivery tips, which she found so helpful - see her comment.
Have a lovely day - with the peace that passes all understanding. And if anyone is joining me in scrubbing a kitchen floor, let me know - maybe it's a Humble Mommy Zeitgeist kind of thing.

Oooh...scrubbing floors. Makes me feel like I should get off the computer and do something. But the baby is sleeping and I'm enjoying my first moments of quiet since 5 a.m. this morning...
There are some pretty good forums out there for new moms, such as ivillage.com. I have belonged to one since the early days of my pregnancy and now all our babies are about to turn 7 months! I have enjoyed being a part of a secular forum because it has taught me a lot about how I view other people and my judgements on them. It's taught me a lot about myself and challenged me to see others how God sees them, so I've grown a lot through it.
However, I have been frustrated on a number of occasions that I have not had anyone to talk to about how this exciting new part of life as a "mommy" affects my spirituality, my faith, how I see God, how He sees me, when to find time for Him, how my attitude serves Him (or doesn't) and brings Him glory (or doesn't). So the idea of your baby blog would be welcomed and appreciated!

Oh, I wish I had the motivation to do mine...they are screaming for cleanliness. But the rest of the house is also in a state of flux...painting, cleaning, rearranging.
Good luck with the floors. Enjoying the Mommy Manual!

I probably should be joining you in the floor scrubbing...but I'm not. ;) Good luck to you. There's nothing more satisfying than a sparkling clean kitchen floor.
I am a member of Parenthood.com, and have been since I was trying to conceive my first child. It has a variety of forums there for just about anything to do with having children, including a Christian forum.
That said, I would be a loyal reader in your baby blog. ;)

A baby blog would be wonderful. I'm part of a ivillage group too, but past the physical aspects of motherhood they can't be much help. I'm trying to get in on MOMYS right now, but the more the merrier (and I only have two, so technically I don't count anyway).
BTW Just found your site and blog, Mrs. Curtis, what a blessing and delight. :-)

The floor is scrubbed. I love walking on it in my bare feet and feeling proud of my work.
I'm thinking about the baby blog and talking to my site manager about how to set it up. Thanks for letting me know what you think.
