Shopping in Manhattan
As someone who lives out in what is affectionately known as "the boonies" - though we are still only an hour from D.C. - I was fascinated by the difference between the sprawling spaces where I live and the tight squeeze of downtown Manhattan.
I'm thinking you might be amused as well to see how the great chains find their niches in a place like New York City.
Here, for example, is Home Depot:

Here's Payless Shoe Stores:

As our tour guide pointed out in acknowledgement of the craziness of the stately buildings/mundane business interplay: "Where else can you find an intersection where a traditional insurance company building has been co-opted by a drug store while just across the street a former drug store is now occupied by an insurance company?"

How cool! I never imagined they had a Home Depot in NY...LOL. Especially one that looks like that! I am curious, what did the inside look like?
Thanks for sharing these pics.
