Hooray for Gideon Bibles!

I remember once when we were involved in the New Age - chanting and meditating every morning, having visions of our past lives, creating our own reality - Tripp and I started going to an Episcopal church full of old people who made a big fuss over us and our kids. It was dark and mysterious inside and we loved the sound of the organ music and the smell of the incense. Nothing we heard challenged our belief system.

Tripp was even asked to serve on the Vestry.

When the Gideons came looking for someone to represent our church at their meetings, ouor pastor suggested Tripp. But when he had to fill out their questionnaire, Tripp got very indignant as they wanted to know whether he believed in the Bible literally - which of course he didn't at the time.

Later, when we became Christians we understood what they were asking and appreciated their integrity.

Later still, when I heard Mrs. Grossman's story of coming to Christ through a Gideon Bible - faithfully planted in a hotel room drawer by one of those dedicated souls - I felt so much respect for their work. Today when I travel, the first thing I do is look for the Gideon Bible and give a little thank you to God. It's a blessing to know at least one lost soul who stumbled on the same Bible and found her way home.

What a great testimony! If Tripp has any interest in The Gideons, it would be a welcomed dialog.

Peace & blessings - Gideon
