No Mercy for Murdering Moms

So today a mother threw her three kids off a pier at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Old stomping ground for the Curtis Family. I can still picture my kids playing at the old abandoned fortresses of Fort Mason where today rescuers retrieved one of the bodies. They're still looking for the other two.

I have very strong opinions when it comes to Moms Who Kill Their Kids: No mercy. None. Nada.

I wrote this article for WorldNetDaily after the Andrea Yates Quintuple Homicide which explains why. I received over 200 emails in response, many from the Christian Grace Patrol who sounded remarkably like the psychobabble crowd, exhorting me to have more empathy.

I'll tell you who I have empathy for: Victims. Innocent lives. Kids.

Kids need to know their lives matter too much for anything but a Zero Tolerance Policy when it comes to parents who kill.

Oh, and by the way, no more double standards, holding dads accountable and making excuses for moms. What if the dad had thrown those kids into the bay? What if Mr. Yates had killed his kids? Think about it.

Love,

Oh Barbara. I can't stand it. I just can't stand it. Of course I picture those sweet babies, stripped naked and plunging to their death in such fear. I'm filled with anger, and frustration, and horror...and I don't really know what to do with any of those emotions. The terrible deed has already been done. I simply pray that the Lord Jesus is cradling them in His arms, and giving them all the security they will ever need.

Barbara, I agree with you, though this will likely put me in the line of fire.

I was thinking of this topic the other day before this story was on the news since we have had examples of parents killing their offspring here in Canada lately.

In Scripture, an animal that attacked and killed someone was to be put to death. We still do this with animals that attack and maim people, like some dogs. These animals are not morally aware that it is wrong to attack and kill or maim, yet they are done away with.

A person who is mentally ill may not believe that what they are doing is wrong, yet if they attack and kill someone, I believe the death penalty should apply. Mental incompetence should not be an excuse for not protecting society from those who are not able to distinguish unreasonable thoughts and unreality from reality. Nor should we be protecting those who are not able to inhibit themselves from such acts.

WRT Andrea Yates. The mercy of the wicked is cruel, as Scripture says. She is kept on drugs to keep her from killing herself because every time she starts to come out of her drug-induced sedation, she realizes the horror of what she did to her own children and wants to kill herself. Somehow we are supposed to believe that living like this for the rest of her life is kindness and understanding and capitol punishment is cruel? If I ever did such a thing (and I pray I don't) I would WANT to be put to death by the state, and that right quickly! To be forced to live with the knowledge of your guilt and not allowed to have justice done on you is a far worse form of torture than being electrocuted if you ask me.

Cheryl's last paragraph says it all.
