Operation Christmas Child
Oh, and thanks to Deb for reminding us about Samaritan's Purse and their Operation Christmas Child.
While it does seem a little early to talk about Christmas - our local Purcellville Giant store had a huge display up before October 1, shame on them! - some things require planning and Samaritan's Purse has a good reason.
This is the best charity I think you can get your little children involved in. Because of their lack of abstract thinking skills, preschoolers really need hands-on stuff to understand. Operation Christmas Child is so direct and personal because your child can fill a shoe box with gifts fora child overseas and know that it will get there just the way you packed it.

Deadlines for getting boxes shipped are coming up fast. For more information, go here.

We *love* Operation Christmas Child and have involved our kids in it each year. They take it so seriously. Our pastor is good friends with Franklin Graham, who started it and our church is one of the distribution centers.
It is truly a wonderful, meaningful outreach.
