Have Yourself a Merry *little* Christmas
Be sure to visit my friend Wendy at Create A Home today - Going Head to Head with the CCC. CCC meaning Crazy Collective Consumerism.

A few years ago I began doing as much shopping as possible online - even using Peapod for groceries.
Online shopping can save a lot of money because when you go hunting (gathering?) for a specific item, you won't see stuff you didn't know you needed that you suddenly think you need. :)
Plus - as Wendy will show you - you can get discounts on products by finding online coupons.
Not to mention gas money.
If you decide to shop online, please search for coupons and then try the merchants in my Mall (bottom left sidebar). Any purchase made at these stores from this site will earn a small percentage to pay for its upkeep. A win/win situation. And these stores have great resources – if I have time, I'll highlight a few in the days to come.
In case you have thought that amazon.com sells only books, today they sell virtually everything from coffee pots to garden rakes to disposable diapers - at great prices and usually with no tax and free shipping. They also offer a great resource - customer reviews of every product. If I am looking for a blender or a tricycle or whatever, I read what actual users say before making up my mind. Try typing anything into the amazon box in my Mall to check it out.
Also, check out Barbara's Picks (upper right sidebar) - which I'm still adding to. Even if you are not buying anything - and I'm all for that because we should all be spending as little as possible :) - when you have time, read though the various entries, as I have set them up not just to link to products, but to show you how to apply Montessori principles in your home and your children's activities to help them reach their God-given potential. If you click on Kid-Friendly Environment you'll see what I mean.
But back to more benefits of online shopping: you will save time schlepping the kids in and out of the car and the stores. You will save yourself and your children stress. And you'll have more time to relax and enjoy the holidays with each other.
And that’s what it’s all about, after all!

Besides which, you don't get all the irritation of seeing Christmas replaced by "holidays" over and over.

Isn't that the truth? Have you noticed that secular Christmas cards are being stocked in much greater abundance than religious ones? My neighbors send the most secular cards I have ever seen - you would never know the "season" has anything to do with Christmas.

I know, I'm having a hard time finding any decorations to do with the nativity.
Our neighborhood is probably 30%+ Indian (Asian) immigrant and 30%+ Japanese, and I'm starting to wonder if Christmas is going to be heard outside the churches ten years from now. There are 50 languages spoken in our suburban school district, and 137 in the city schools.
I tagged you for the meme of sevens, if you have time. The instructions are on my blog. I would be really interested to see your answers.

Interesting, and maybe not exactly along these lines but while flying to visit family this week I saw a Target ad in the airplane's magazine that read: "Tis the season no matter the reason." That sure stuck like a thorn in my side. Ugh. Jesus is the reason and it DOES matter. Target's greed for the profits of the season is grossly obvious.
