Teen Driving Joke

We are now teaching our seventh child to drive - well, I should say Tripp is teaching our seventh to drive. I think I confessed once that I'm terrified of ferris wheels and roller coasters. Ditto student drivers.

And for you parents of younger children, even Tripp would say this is one of the hardest parts of raising kids - giving up control at the wheel.

Anyway, I thought this joke was funny:

A teenager had just gotten his driver's permit and asked his dad, an evangelist, if he could use the family car.

His dad said, "I'll make a deal with you. If you bring your grades up to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut we'll talk about the car."

After thinking it over, the teen agreed.

Six weeks later, his dad called him into his study and said, "Son I've been very proud of you. You've brought up your grades, and I've noticed you studying your Bible, and participating more in Bible study groups. But, I'm disappointed, since you haven't gotten your hair cut."

The young man paused before replying: "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in studying the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair and there is even a strong argument that Jesus had long hair also."

To this his father replied, "Did you also notice that they all walked everywhere they went?"

Love,

I've got 3 more years until #1 son reaches driving age with the next one just 18 months behind. If we do end up finding a rural place to live, I fully intend to have them do lots of practicing behind the wheel of a riding lawn tractor.

Great idea. Our daughter Maddy who's 12 loves riding the tractor and is convinced she'll be a better driver someday!
