Hangin' in there!
Busy week. Let me catch up:
Sophia has sinusitis and the doctor thinks her adenoids may be a problem. She asked, "Is this how she always sounds?" because Sophia has a voice kinda like Marilyn Monroe. Because of adenoids? Who knew?
Also she is complaining of headaches in the back of her head and she developed a vision problem last fall. So she is having a CAT scan tomorrow.
Maddy's procedure to have the pre-melanoma patch removed turned out to be more complex than we thought. She will need to go to the surgery center and possibly be put to sleep. It's a pretty big chunk that has to come out. So that's Friday morning.
The bright spot in her life is that she won the singing competition last Sunday and will go to regionals. And we found a great voice teacher for her - finally - who spent an hour with her today. What you might not know about Maddy is that she is a born performer with about 15 plays under her belt. If you came to visit, she promptly ask if she could sing for you. She has sung on school buses and in doctors' offices. She started singing once at the Waterford Fair and someone put a hat in front of her and she earned $43.75. She has also sung the National Anthem to kick off the baseball games here. But she's been without a teacher for 18 months. The wonderful one we found today really challenged her - and she needed that.
But it hardly seems like she needs this just one month after her tonsillectomy. Please pray for God to be her comfort and strength. And for us to find out if anything's wrong with Sophia. Oh yeah, and to find Justin's missing glasses :)
And for Mommy to keep up with it all. Ay yi yi.

Happy to pray. I'm excited for Maddy! Maybe Monroe had adenoids, too.

Wow, Barbara! You've got a lot on your plate right now. I will pray for you and your children this week. I hope everything turns out in the best way possible.

I have to say I love these posts that make you seem so REAL. (You always seem real, but a prayer request for missing glasses is right up my alley!) Will definitely be praying for Sophia and Maddy (and the lost glasses). Maybe someday (in your spare time) you could record Maddy singing the National Anthem and put it on your site. I'd love to hear it! Way to go Maddy!!

Hi Barbara!
Lots for you to think about right now. Just wanted to send you a link that I knew you'd appreciate. It's a picture of a teeny baby's hand while in the womb. (you may need to scroll down a little) Found it on Lisa Samson's blog: http://lisasamson.typepad.com/
I think God gave you a special heart to see this kind of beauty with eyes of faith, long before pics like this were available.

You need a maid.
That's great about her singing success.
I'm starting to worry about how you're going to handle retirement.

Hope all the tests and procedures go well. No matter how seasoned a mom you are, it can't be easy.
