Adoption - participating in a miracle

celebrateadoptionpin.jpg

Just got an email from a writer friend of mine that her family is on their way to adopting a baby girl from China. The process will take over a year and cost over $20,000. They are working with an agency in Denver called chinese Children Adoption International. Tricia writes:

You might wonder what made us decide to do this and all we can say is that it was God who put this desire into our hearts. Ephesians 1:5 says, "His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave Him great pleasure." We are excited about the opportunity to offer at least one child-in-need a family to love and the opportunity to learn about Jesus. We know God has a special child chosen just for us and we are eager to be completely faithful to what He is calling us to do. It will be exciting to see how He works out the whole adoption process.
I believe there is a great wave of adoptions sweeping through the Christian community. All around me I have seen more and more families responding to the Scripture that reminds us:
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27
Our pastor's family has ten children - two of them adopted sons from Korea right in the middle of all their birth kids. A friend of mine recently adopted a sibling group of three, bringing her total children to four. A neighbor has adopted two children from Russia. And now my daughter and dear son-in-law - Kip and Samantha - are in the process of preparing to adopt a baby girl from Gautemala to add to their own five.

There is so much need out there and most of us have so much more to share than we know. If God is calling you to consider the possibility of adoption, don't wait another minute. Adoption is an opportunity to participate in a small way in the miraculous working of God - and to understand his love for us.

Love,

What a timely message. DH and I have felt the Lord's message of adoption on our heart for almost a year. We received a package of information yesterday about International Adoption. We are in prayer.

And what people don't always realize about adoption is how much it blesses the parents! The gift of these kids is a pure miracle. And the need is staggering. They predict that by 2010, 40% of the kids in Ethiopia will be orphans. here's a link to
my agency.

Mary, mom to many, including 2 from Korea and 2 from Ethiopia.

We adopted our little man a year ago. We already had 4 grown biological children. We felt the calling from the Lord and He has richly blessed us.

You can read more of our story on my blog.

I agree that it blesses the parents just as much as the children. Joshua has blessed me and changed my heart forever!!! When we listen to God's calling, he blesses us abundantly and gives us mercy beyond our imaginations!

Barbara,
I know you and many others can attest to this truth...
Meeting my son for the 1st time, holding him in my arms for the 1st time and finally adopting him I recall the same awe-inspiring super mommy feelings wash over me. All those mommy-love hormones I know so much from a my nursing practice were there in place just as if I carried him physically inside of me and physically labored and gave birth to him. Like my pregnancies and deliveries of his 4 sisters, it was just as different as those individula experiences but it was amazing!
I would also add, my husband felt the same intense rush with Daniel entering our lives as he did with our girls.
I whole heartedly endorse adpption as a choice when one decides to become a parent

We have SOOOOOOOOO many families at our church who have adopted little Chinese girls! Several of them have returned to China 2-3 times to adopt a new little one. It is so precious to see!

I would love to adopt someday as well. Just waiting for the Lord to lead my dh and me in the same direction. ;-)

We are in the process of adopting five children from foster care. Two brothers and three sisters. We are supposed to be finalized on March 31, 2006. Its the most exciting thing going. The best part is how God truly blessed us. Our two (almost 3) year old son has been with us since he was 14 months old. We have loved him and cried over him so many times and finally he was eligible for adoption. THEN his biological mother turned up pregnant and asked us to keep the children together and adopt the baby. This was a dream come true! We have not been able to have children of our own and I had given up having a newborn to cuddle and watch grow. We even got to pick out his name and bring him home from the hospital. He is now 2 months old and just a true blessing. The three sisters have always had different last names, our eight year old daughter takes great joy in telling everyone that they will now share the same last name, like a real family. I encourage people everywhere who might not have the money for a private or international adoption to look locally. We dont have to put any money out for the adoption here in Florida. There are plenty of children in foster care who need a forever home. Our children are miracles and we thank God every day for putting us together as a family!!
