Laundry Room Mom #20

This is the Smock Lady, who writes:
I stopped by to 'discover' the laundry room pics and as much as I don't usually do these things if it's not too late to join I loved the idea - it's real, very real. I call laundry 'the cancer of my life - I keep cutting and cutting away at it and it keeps on growing". I use cloth diapers on my children and as much as I would love to fix myself up and do something really funny or cute and creative I just thought my life would be better as it is. So here's a pic from tonight, after the haircut, and the walk and exercise, before the shower and supper, me doing diapers - really. stinky. diapers. because that's what I seem to be doing all the time. Diapers.
I can relate - I did cloth diapers for my first seven or eight, but did switch to disposables when I read that in terms of the environment, it wasn't as clear an issue as I thought. The bottom line seemed to be whether you lived in a part of the country that had problems with landfill space or parts that had problems with water shortages. Since I lived in California where drought was often a problem, I switched. Still, there is nothing like the fresh and sweet smell of a stack of beautifully cleaned cloth diapers!
This brought back a lot of memories!

It's funny, as much of a closet hippie as I am I use cloth for my babies bottoms. Every single one of them have broken out with terrible bleeding rashes with any brand of disposables I've ever tried. And I, personally, have save over a thousand dollars a year using them - that's MY incentive.

I used disposables until my third daughter. At about a year old, she had a terrible, persistent diaper rash that would not go away, no matter what I smeared on her little tush! She had it over a month before I thought, "Let me try cloth diapers and see if that helps." I don't know what prompted me, but I'm very grateful. Within three days, that rash was gone, and I have never looked back! My children have all gotten rashes from disposable diapers, but the only ones I've ever seen with cloth are from an unnoticed poop (yes, it happens) and those go away within hours of clean up.
