Eagle Cam
Remember I mentioned a few days ago the Eagle Cam which is waiting for the hatching of two eggs? If you tried to go there, it might have been frustrating because they are receiving a whopping 3.3 million visits a day. And the eggs are way overdue! Six days - some of you know what that feels like :)
I was up at 5 this morning, so clicked in easily. It's windy and the magnificent bird is squirming around a lot as though agitated. She's also fluffing up the nest - kinds like I used to run around preparing everything right before the Big Moment. I'm wondering if today will be the big day . . . .
In addition to the live camera, there is a forum where viewers have posted clips so you can see the more exciting moments. Here is a video of the mom and dad eagles switching spots covering the eggs. Your kids will love it.

Well, I was hoping something like this wouldn't happen, but a little below the live eagle cam, under "News", it says "find out what happened to the first egg..." It then takes you to a separate website and you can click on forum to read that one of the eggs (is it still in the nest?) did not result in an eagle, and the other one is way past due to hatch.
The article gives reasons as to why this might have occurred.
A sad, but important lesson for all our kids who've been watching!
There are some other great animal live webcams out there to watch, but this one, with the eggs, nesting, and the interaction was just really fascinating to me. After watching it for enough I days, I have been able to marvel at how God gave animals the instincts for survival in such specific ways.
Anyway, I hope we don't have too many sad kids out there. And maybe there's still hope for the other egg?
