Josh and Hattie's Wedding

Josh and Hattie were married Saturday.
Highlights for me included:
*Seeing five of my ten grandchildren dressed to the nines - white gowns and long gloves for the three girls, tuxes for the two boys - as ringbearers and flower girls.
*Josh and Hattie's strong and steady gaze - the smile on his face, the tears in her eyes.
*The choice of song for the first dance - "How Beautiful" by Twila Paris.
*The message delivered by Pastor Dan Morgan, who was their youth pastor when they were on the teen worship team. He emphasized sacrificial love on Josh's part and submission (surrender) on Hattie's.
*The choice of music - Josh had picked it all out in advance - and the fun everyone had dancing.
What might have been a perfectly lovely time was marred somewhat by a few guests at the wedding who completely shunned our family. Ironic, since the verses Josh and Hattie had chosen were all about love and forgiveness and the music about unity. The details aren't important - just a sad reminder of how far we continue to fall from the ideals God has given us to live by.
But Josh and Hattie are married and today there is one more Mr. and Mrs. Curtis in the world (in Maui by now)! Love triumphs over all!

Barbara - You are looking so very good! I love the new picture in your profile. It might be that you changed it awhile ago and I am just now noticing it... none the less you look so good. And you go girl on the weight loss!
Congrats for the new Mr. and Mrs. Curtis. May they be blessed beyond their wildest imaginations!

Congratulations to all of you! It sounds like a lovely wedding and a fun celebration despite the difficulties with other people. I can't begin to imagine *anyone* having a problem with your family!

My husband officiated at a wedding on Saturday--and that couple is in Hawaii, too.
I'm glad it was a lovely day for your family.
