Kids' stories on CD - Bible, too!

Do you have kids who are audio learners? I've had a couple. But even among the ones who aren't, all my kids have loved stories and books on tape/CD. All children can benefit from cultivating the listening habit as it encourages imagination, but also trains them to be attentive.

My kids adore the Odyssey series and Radio Theater classics from Focus on the Family. For any families not already using the Odyssey tapes, I can't recommend them highly enough - in addition to teaching Biblical application in daily life, theey are loaded with vocabulary builders, history facts, and thinking challenges.

To save money, you might consider going in with some friends to purchase some together - or check out Ebay.

Maddy is one of my audio learners, and she still listens to her CDs everynight before she goes to bed.

Also, someone sent me a link to Storynory where you can listen to or download free children's classic stories - and they just started Bible stories too. You can buy the whole series of Bible stores at Once Upon a World, or subscribe for free podcasts.

Hi Barbara! Thank you so much for posting the links to Storynory and Once Upon a World! My kids really enjoy listening to radio shows and the Jonathan Park series, so I know that they will love these! I really should hunt down some Odessey cds, we have the ones from Chick-fil-a, and the kids like those, too. Bless you!

One of the investments I am really glad we made is putting $50 in gift money towards getting the entire KJV on Audio CD read by Alexander Scourby, the late Shakespearean actor.

Every night, our elder daughter sleeps to a CD on repeat and in 2 months she's listened to the whole Bible in the wonderful cadence and rhythm and literary greatness of the KJV (we don't use it for personal study, but we want our kids to be familiar with the very best English.)

I grew up on Adventures in Odyssey and Ranger Bill on the radio!
