More on Jonny

I teach my kids that the Bible is like an owner's manual for a car. It tells us exactly how to live our lives successfully - not by the world's standards, but by God's. And successful living brings joy and peace. Throughout the hurtful events that have just taken place where we live, I have been lifted by the peace that passes all understanding.

Being blessed with a son like Jonny has brought to life many scriptures for me - and I see them in operation every day. Here is the bottom line:

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.
Hebrews 13:2

Beatiful points made, Barbara.

Bless you, Barbara - I have been grieved with you and your readers over the recent neighborhood drama - and encouraged by the way you have handled it. Your Jonny is a delight - I can tell by all the pictures and your descriptions. You have reminded me this morning of a piece I did on that same verse, which I will now post on my blog - "And the things that are not" - I hope it will be an encouragement to you!

This morning in the local newspaper, there was an article about a young man with DS whose home was destroyed in a fire. The community has gotten behind the family in such a beautiful way. He is an active part of the Special Olympics and other athletes came to a big gathering and started giving him the medals they had won because his were lost. I could barely read the article, my eyes were so full of tears for the family and the dear athletes who wanted to share. There was so much love in the article. I'm going to try to find a way to forward it to you! Of course I thought of you.

Much love to you and your entire family!
Liesl
