My friend Mel

I must confess I don't get much time to read other blogs, but this morning I paid a visit to Mel at Actual Unretouched Photo. Mel lives about 3000 miles away, but though we've never met face to face, we have a very real, authentic and supportive relationship - just not much time to hang out together :)

Mel is a gifted writer and I've been trying to persuade her for a year to come to Mount Hermon for a Writers' Conference so she can find an editor to put her thoughts in between the covers of a book. Not that she needs to. A blog reaches far more readers than a book. But it is nice to get paid a little something in acknowledgment.

But now Mel has hit the blogging bigtime, with a paid column at ClubMom - called The Amazing Shrinking Mom (why didn't I think of that title?) Those of you who are dieting along with me should check her out there. She's got some amazingly funny and encouraging stuff.

But everyone should check out Mel at another thing she is great at - turning her gaze on a particular current event to point us to the Big Picture. For an example of what I mean, check out Making a Happy List vs. Keeping Your Vows

Love,

I had never been to Mel's blog before. Thank you for posting these links. Now, I've spent time today that I really didn't have (!) getting to know your friend. And it was fun!
