Radio - great family movie

My letter to my neighbor about her son's rejection of Jonny mentioned a movie that is a favorite of mine. I've added it to Barbara's Picks - which I'm sorry has been a little neglected lately because there is MUCH more to come when I'm finished with my latest books.

Anyway Radio is a wonderfully sensitive film about a young man whose mental disabilities pale in comparison to themore hidden and subtle emotional disabilities of the people around him. I think the Coach sums up my feelings about people with disabilities when he says towards the end: "We're not the ones been teaching Radio; he's the one been teaching us."

The good news is you that at Amazon can buy a used copy of this great movie for less than the cost of a video rental. And the lessons for your children are priceless.

Love,

I second the recommendation of that movie! I haven't seen it in awhile (we saw it when it first came out), BUT it is SO good!!!!

Barbara,

Hooray for RADIO. This is my favorite gift for Teacher Appreciation/Christmas/End of Year for my daughter's therapists, teachers, and aides. It is a powerful disability awareness tool.

With every good wish,

Lisa G.
