Spelling Bee on TV
For the first time ever, the National Spelling Bee will be on TV tonight - 8 PM EST on ABC.
This afternoon, it will be broadcast on ESPN 12-3.
It is really cool to see the Spelling Bee get this kind of attention. And I know I mentioned it already, but I'll mention it again: the documentary Spellbound is a really wonderful film that shows the drama behind the scenes as a number of finalists from a variety of environments, social classes, and parental involvement prepare for the Bee. I rented it from Netflix (which I also recommend!) , but you can see if your local video place has it.
In the meantime, I plan to watch the Bee tonight. Do you?

Hey Barbara,
Just wanted to let your readers who struggle with infertility know that I posted a message to them today over on the Choosing Home blog. (Click on my name for the link.) My heart simply hurt for them the other day, when they felt wounded by comments made under your pro life post. (I by the way, agreed with you, very much so!, and know that no one intended to hurt them...but still am so sorry that they were hurt.)

Actually, with my mother in law and sometimes my husband asking if i plan on sending garrett to preschool I need you to write and get them published quickly! You know i am kidding at the beginning of this note, thanks for all you are doing. And.. if I really thought you wouldn't sneak back on here I wouldn't have checked back :)

I saw that and thought it looked interesting...only b/c of what I have heard about Spellbound! But we'll be at birthing classes tonight! : )

A recent FINE (nondocumentary) spelling movie is "Akeelah and the Bee."

We LOVED the movie Spellbound too, and Netfilix :-)

Awesome. I went out and watched the movie Akeelah and the Bee (not sure how to spell her name) Anyway it was a great movie and really promoted spelling bee's as well! Have you seen it?
