Here's why when I'm in an attended parking lot I always detach and give them only the car key:

What the heck was he going to do with the power cord???? My mind's already gagging at the possibilities.
He's lucky to be alive! If that happened in our house Shawn would have killed him.
Of course the dogs would have gotten to him first.

Attended parking is uncommon in Switzerland - now that I'm thinking about it I don't think I've ever seen it here - but I have my apartment key and car key on separate rings too.
