    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!

    Noisy Nora
Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool

Skyline Drive

I decided to take Skyline Drive home with the boys yesterday. It runs along the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains here in Virginia.

Absolutely gorgeous - and strikingly different from the high and rugged Sierras in California. Here's what we saw:

I want to go back in the fall when all the leaves are turning - though from what I understand, so does half of the DC metropolitan area. Yesterday was nice because there weren't many people on the road. The weather was kind - not too hot - and the kids love driving with me.

Love,

Ahh... beautiful!! I hope to make it out to that part of the country someday. It really is quite different from the west coast isn't it? (I live in the eastern part of the greater Bay Area) We just took a drive out to the farm stands near Brentwood today and had a lot of nice views of the windmills and the brown, brown hills. It certainly is a lot nicer in the spring when everything is green. That's one thing I really think is neat about the east coast - how green things stay in the summer. But I guess you also get the humidity to deal with too, so it isn't all perfection!

OK, I'm rambling now, thanks for the pictures!

Just discovered your blog...I'm a wanna-be writer of Christian romance but have not made it to the "sending it to the publisher" stage.
Anyway, enjoyed looking at your site! My husband and I lived in VA. before kids, and drove that skyline! It is, indeed, beautiful!
Blessings,
~Tammy

Lovely pictures.....Looks very familiar as we live in the Blue Ridge mountians as well. Where in VA are you located? We just took a trip recently to Galax and were able to pick cherries at an orchard there. Beautiful views all along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thanks for reminding me why I love living here.

Christy :)
