TV taping next Saturday
Next Saturday a film crew is coming to our house to tape a show on Down syndrome, abortion, adoption - plus whatever else they want to talk about.
It is a new show that will premier in the fall called Facing Life Today - Head On. I checked out their website - which is still under construction - and it looks like it has pretty good production values.
What this involves for me today is taking pictures of the places where we might interview so they can get an idea of the equipment they need. They are flying into DC from Ohio and will come here Saturday morning, take 60-90 minutes to set up, then shoot and interview and scenes of our family going about our "normal" business.
This sure beats Wife Swap :) - for the benefit of those new to this site, I was invited to be on Wife Swap a couple months ago, touching off a debate here about whether that might or might not be worthwhile. I saw it as an obedience issue - like, "Yes, Lord, this is something I would never choose, but I will walk into the lion's den with you by my side," and so in obedience I said yes. But I've been very relieved that they haven't followed up!
By contrast, this show sounds like a great opportunity to share one of my favorite messages: that Down syndrome is not something to be afraid of, and that we should welcome children with Down syndrome into our lives.

I think that Any child should be welcomed into our lives regardless of any kind of differance!
