Diet Update

I've lost 65 pounds. I'm feeling positively svelte - although I'm definitely far from it still. But I am loving how much more free and easy I feel inside my skin - able to move quickly and not feeling like a ponderous mass of flesh.
I'm also very aware of how I shortchanged my husband for so many years by living in a body packing so much extra weight. He always loved me and accepted me as I was - my weight was never an issue for him. But you know what? He deserved so much better. Now that I'm approaching a normal weight and definitely looking better I feel like this is how it should have been all along.
It is just so nice to be taking up less space than I used to :)
So all of you who are dieting out there, hang in there. It does get better. Although I'm not on the strict Fat Flush anyomre, my eating habits have definitely changed. I do not want a quarter pounder with cheese or french fries or Taco Bell stuff. A lot of stuff I used to like just feels heavy to think about eating.
If you need motivation, check out these stories at Oprah.
Also, my friend Mel at Amazing Shrinking Mom, who writes encouragement for dieters every day and is looking sooo beautiful herself. Through Mel I got a link to Mom of the Screaming Masses, who calls her self-created diet the ELF diet.
That's right, the ELF Diet - Eat Less, Fatty! I'm going to keep telling myself that until it no longer applies :)
PS - if you'd like your weight loss to be added to the group effort shown on my right sidebar, email me with how much you've lost this year. Those of you who've let me know before, give me an update!

Good for you!
My dad has just lost a whole human's amount of weight (like, 120 pounds!) after being really fat for my whole life. Good for him! Except... now he's become obnoxious on the subject. He keeps giving me weight loss advice and I am not overweight at all, or giving me the "eat to live not live to eat" speech every five minutes. Did I mention that I'm not overweight? That no one in my house is overweight? Sigh.

I've lost about 10 pounds so far using sparkpeople.com. It's free, and I really recommend it for food tracking, calorie counting, recipe ideas, keeping track of exercise, water intake, etc. etc. I really can't believe it's free.
Oh, and I've been reading Mommy Life since the spring, though I think this is the first time I've commented here! I enjoy your writing. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I love to read your good news. I get to get serious again. I lost 8 pounds but gained 5 back since I had to recover from my surgery. It's hard laying around doing nothing for 2 weeks. Good thing I have my boys to keep me busy. I lost one already and plan on getting the total 15 off by Christmas. It's do-able. Thanks for your encouragement.

Rebecca - that's too bad about your dad. Maybe you could talk to him about it? Maybe he doesn't realize what he's doing.
Toblerone and Mel - yay for you! Mel, your picture looks great!
Julana - thanks for letting me know I forgot the link to Mel. Yes, everyone - you need to visit her site - which is linked now.
Janet - what surgery? I didn't know. Praying for you.
