A little motherly advice
So . . . . .
Did anyone take the day off to enjoy the wonderful fall weather with the kids? Tell us!
I don't want to sound like a nagging mother - just want to encourage you to let some of the housework go - it will still be there tomorrow! So then you and your children can do it together - but you'll be refreshed and full of good feelings from a day of fresh air.
But take it from a better mind than mine - Saint Augustine: God has promised forgiveness to your repentance, but He has not promised tomorrow to your procrastination. ... Only here the procrastination isn't about your work but taking time to play with the kids.
Honestly - take it from someone who's got six grown already - it goes by in the blink of an eye!

We got a lot of the housework out of the way before breakfast, then did 'school' outside. My kindergartner is learning to skip count by 2's, so we did a hopscotch type of game that helped her with that.
We took a little walk just around our property (couldn't go too far because the baby was in the house sleeping) and gathered pretty leaves and sturdy branches. We talked about Fall and all that it brings. We're studying the 3rd day of Creation right now, so we were able to tie into our activity discussions on how God made the trees and plants on that day. Then, when the baby started to stir, we came inside and made a mobile out of the leaves and sticks to hang in our 'classroom'.
I love this weather! It makes it so inviting as an outdoor classroom!

Excellent advice! When the kids got home from school, we chucked the chores and went straight out back to the swingset!

My boys are outside boys but I still felt the urge to do something different. At homework time, we all went out to the trampoline and did it there. Then we all got in a good jumping session. Hope they won't be graded on penmanship tomorrow.

We just moved into a new house Saturday and there are boxes stacked everywhere. We just left them sit and went to a local Forest Preserve and did a 4 mile Hike. It was awesome to be away from the stress of moving and having some fun "exploring" with the boys. I love this time of year!

I wish we were having "wonderful fall weather." Today I took the kids to the art museum for the Smithsonian Magazine free museum day. We don't have a/c in the car, and there was traffic, and it was H-O-T. In fact, right now it's just after sunset and the Weather Channel says it "feels like 90" outside. I'm not sure what the temp was at noon.
