Back on my diet today

diet.jpg

In case you've been wondering about the lack of more pounds lost under the fat lady to the right, the reason is simple: for the past few months I have not been dieting. I've simply been putting into practice the wisdom gained from the previous six months of dieting. That means I've been eating what my family eats, but in proportions that allow me to maintain my weight and not to gain any more.

There's a lot of security in finding that enough emotional and spiritual work has gone on that being off my diet does not have to end in disaster. Hooray! I'm free! I don't have to be fat any more!

Two things I've noticed:

My shadow looks normal!

And as the weather turns colder, I am freezing without the extra layers of fat I'm used to. But hey, I'd rather put on more clothes than more weight!

Anyway, to make this official I just want to announce that as of today, I am back on the Fat Flush Plan to lose the last 30 pounds. This meant that today there were no snacks of nuts or chips. It meant that tonight when I used the leftover baked potatoes from last night's dinner to make twice-baked cheese-stuffed potatoes for my family, I once again had to control that impulse to bring my hand to my mouth. It means that right now I'm feeling a little hungry and deprived.

I've been here before. But I've learned that with God's help I can do this. I've lost 70 pounds, benefited from surgery to eliminate the excess skin on my belly, and now I'm ready for the final round to get to where I should have been all along.

So no self-pity for me. I got myself into this mess and now I'm going to finish getting myself out.

Love,

Good for you. I've always been 10--25 pounds overweight, and can get fairly thin with a good 3-4 months of running and sensible eating(I NEVER starve myself)...but I've never been able to maintain; I'm always losing or gaining. So if you've maintained for a few months, that's fantastic!
By the way, you looked great in the recent photos you posted (from last week-end)! I"ll say a little prayer for your continued success.

Maintaining is better than gaining!

It's what I tell myself since I have not lost a pound since August and the holidays are hard upon me now. I've got to get back on track to and lose that last 10-15 lbs. I've got some nice muscle definition lurking under that final layer of chub.

Keep keeping us posted on your weight loss journey!

Oh, I think you are doing just wonderfully! :o ) It can be a difficult thing, learning to eat in a maintenance fashion. I certainly applaud you for taking on that adventure. *hugs* I pray that God continues to bless you through this journey as you continue to reclaim your freedom from food.
