Mark Foley - just the tip of the iceberg

I try to stay out of political commentary here, but this has certainly been an incredible week. Although I just talked to my daughter Samantha who's too busy homeschooling five kids to even know what I meant by Mark Foley.

I just want to go on record as saying I am continually amazed by how power corrupts people and appalled by the situation in Washington, where men who are supposed to hold our future in their hands use their power to exploit silly starry-eyed young people working on Capitol Hill.

Shame on the old men and shame on their groupies.

Shame on perverts from both parties.

Shame on the double standard whereby when members of one party are caught in wrongdoing, they resign while the other party is considered heroic for riding out the controversy.

Shame on our culture for the sex-saturated anything-goes state in which we live.

Shame on those who know and don’t tell (although it’s easy to see why no one wants to be a whistleblower – look how they crucified Linda Tripp).

Shame on our country that we haven’t done better with all the gifts we’ve been given.

Love,
