Baby with Down syndrome needs home

Bryce is three months old and has just left the hospital to stay with a temporary family until he has a permanent home. Bryce was born prematurely and has had some surgery to repair intestinal problems (the same kind Jonny had when he was born, which haven't had any long-term consequences). There is a possibility that he may need a heart surgery when he has gained enough weight and become strong enough to handle. The tubes you see in the picture are temporarily supplying oxygen to keep his levels up.
Bryce has a twin sister and the birth mother would like an open adoption. They live in Colorado.
The agency handling this adoption is Loving Hands. They are hoping to find an already-licensed family in Colorado. There will be fees involved, but I always encourage families who would like to adopt but are prevented by fees to ask their church for help. Also there is a tax credit of $10,630 for adoption expenses - not a deduction, but an actual credit against taxes you owe).
If you may be able to provide a home for Bryce, please contact Crystal Gerlock of Loving Hands at cgerlock@yahoo.com.
Let me suggest that if you feel an urge to adopt Bryce but you are not licensed or close to completing the home study process, then this is probably not the baby for you. Getting licensed takes at least six months and Bryce needs a home now. The urge that you feel may be God nudging you towards adopting, yes - and that would mean that you should start taking steps to prepare yourself to receive the baby God has intended for you. I believe that God truly has a plan in these adoptions - how else to explain that when you hold your baby for the first time that leap in your heart that bonds you forever? But you have to do the legwork in advance to be ready when that child comes along.
Let's all be praying for Bryce to find his way to his family.

Oh my gosh! I would LOVE TO!!!!! My 2 yo son has DS and we know the MAGIC! Ironically....we are being transferred to Colorado in the new year....but we are Canadian citizens and would eventually return there or another location in the U.S., so I guess that would not be very appealing to his birth mom. We are currently in Ohio.
What a beautiful baby! I pray for many blessings for him!

Barbara - Thanks for posting this. We'll be praying for this little guy. I believe his foster mother is on the MOMYS list. WHat a wonderful Christmas gift some very blessed family will receive this year when they take this little guy home. Please update us when he finds a home:)
I also have a quick question for you about adoption. Dh and I have always intended to adopt at some point. We have three small (under 5) children now and of course my heart just breaks to think about a little one needing a home. But dh and I are discussing whether or not we should adopt when we are (I pray) still in the midst of birthing babies. Do you think it's better to wait until born children are older before adopting?

Barbara, he is precious.
I live in Colorado. We attend a very large church that has an adoption support group. Many of the members are approved and anxiously awaiting a child to call their son or daughter. Others have already adopted children and would love to add another to their family. I forwarded this post to the leader of the adoption group, who is also the leader of the marriage ministry my husband and I attend. I've asked that she please email the information about Bryce to all the members.
I pray little Bryce will find a family soon.

We have contacted his case worker and are really trying, hoping and praying for this perfect little boy to become part of our family. We have 4 other children that are very excited and anxious to bring him home. We thank you all for your prayers in advance!!
