    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!

    Noisy Nora
Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool

Apron Power! #10

apron10.jpg
Barbara--I ran across your blog while checking out another, and saw your apron contest. I LOVE your apron! I wasn't sure how to go about entering the contest, then I saw your email link, and thought I would try that. I am a stay home mom and homeschool teacher to our (so far LOL) six children--8 1/2 yr. old son, 7 yr. old daughter, 5 yr. old daughter, 2 yr. old daughter (will be 3 in January), and 7 month old twin daughters! I am sending a picture along that my husband took tonight of my 3 older girls and myself in our aprons in front of some of our Christmas decorations in the hallway. (I also inset a picture of our 7 month old twin girls!) The 5 year old and 7 year old had just helped me make some yummy "Cracker Cookies" that we are making several batches of for Christmas gifts. I had made the Mocha Cappucino Cheesecake Pie for company that was coming this evening. The 3 girls are each wearing matching handmade aprons with a victorian lady appliqued and embroidered on. These aprons were made by a dear lady in our church who has since passed on to be with the Lord. She was such a godly example, and a dear, dear lady. She was always VERY busy, and always had to have something to do. Even though she spent her last several months in a wheelchair after having her legs amputated due to a medical condition, she still was a great encouragement to all those around her. I would like to tell my girls about the sweet Christian lady that made the aprons they wear and of her godly example. As my twin girls get older, I would love to make two more "victorian lady" aprons for them to wear as well, starting a tradition!

Merry Christmas Barbara! Thanks for your meaty, uplifting and ongoing blog. Good grist for the mill. Big hugs, e-Mom

I loved the Nativity Story, too. It really "made" this Christmas special. I saw Mary and Joseph - and ultimately God - in a real way. That's pretty good for a person who has been a Christian for over 30 years!

I didn't know about the actress' pregnancy. It doesn't matter to me - it doesn't change the impact of the film. I pray that she and her child will be drawn to Jesus' side. I, too, am thankful that she kept her baby - and while I don't condone teen pregnancy, neither do I condone taking life thru abortion!

Merry Christmas, Barbara - and thanks for being you!
