Mother Teresa bracelet - jewelry with a purpose

A reader asked where I had found the Mother Teresa bracelets I got all the women in our family for Christmas, which looks like this:

I got them from Signals. if you are interested, link here.[update - it looks like this is no longer avaialable, but you can try calling them. Amazon doesn't carry this one, but it does carry a Be Still and Know that I am God bracelet and several others I can't imagine a better gift for someone.

Mother Teresa has always been one of my personal heroes. I've been wearing my bracelet since Christmas - like my wedding ring, something I plan not to take off - and have found it to be a reminder of what I want my life to be.

Love,

I have a wonderful "scripture bracelet" story to share!

In the middle of November, I went to a craft fair. There I found a table laden with silver bracelets, a lot with scripture on them. After searching for a bit, I found one that had Philippians 4:13 on it, which has been my life verse since I became a Christian. I wore it proudly, every day, and the smooth coolness of the silver was a comfort to me.

In church a few Sundays later, a few people were on the stage talking about missions (the entire month of November had been dedicated to missions: local, US and world-wide). One of the missions was called Hope House, which is where girls can come for counseling, free pregnancy tests, and help with major decisions like adoption, etc). One of the girls of Hope House came up to speak. She got pregnant at 15, and wanted to keep her daughter (the irony is that her mother runs Hope House). She found out shortly afterwards how hard it was to raise a child, go to school and still be a basketball-playing teen. After much counseling, they found a family within the church who wanted to adopt a child and placed Ari (the baby) with them). At the end of her speech, Ayana (the teen mother) closed with a verse that she said helps her make it through EVERY day: I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13.

As I stroked the silver bracelet on my wrist, I felt moved to go speak to this young girl, who chose life. I hugged her and gave her my bracelet, so that she would always remember the verse and feel the calming of God's hand upon her in times of need.

I don't regret giving it to her one bit.

For my birthday a few days later, my best friend gave me a silver scripture bracelet! It carries the verse of John 3:16, which also reminds me very much of what it means to give it up to God.

Barbara,
When our son was a few months old, his home-based Physical therapist gave me a sheet of paper with this quote from Mother Theresa printed on it. I kept it around for a long time. You reminded me of it, so I'll start the year with it printed on the top of my To Do lists.
Thank you.

I, also, count Mother Teresa as a hero. What an awesome bracelet. I'm hopping over to the link to check it out.

Thanks so much for sharing!

I notice that I posted a comment over a year ago! I did check them out, but I never bought one. The sentiment means more now than ever. I found it in Pewter for $6.95 on this site: (Scroll down the page.)
