    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!
  • Noisy Nora
    Noisy Nora
Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool
  • A Chair for My Mother
    A Chair for My Mother
A remarkably beautiful story told by a young girl whose mother is a waitress. Since they lost all their furniture in a fire, they've been saving mother’s tips in a jar – so they can buy a big comfortable chair for their whole family to enjoy – daughter, mother and grandmother. Life has its ups and downs, but there’s always lots of love. Ages 4-7

Apron Power! Voting Begins!

Click on the image above to see all the entries. Click on the pictures or slideshow to make them bigger and to reveal the entire comment under each (I had to condense some because of word limits).

Please email me your top ten by number. You don't have to rank them. Voting ends at midnight January 19 and I will post the 10 winners of The Mommy Survival Guide next Saturday morning.

To avoid stacking votes with friends, I will only accept votes with 10 choices - not just one or two.

No special criteria for judging - just whatever appeals to you.

Feel free to write your coments about your choices so I can include some with the winners.

Also, if you want to share how this contest has encouraged you or changed your views please share! I'll be doing a round-up of those so we can continue to reflect on them and encourage each other!

May the best apron-clad woman win!

PS - I also made an album for the Laundry Room contest (have the winners, but still need to label the other pictures). Just click below:

Aw, Man. I've NEVER wanted an apron before...but after reading about them here and seeing all of the beautiful ladies in their aprons...I really DO want one! :) I'm gonna have to visit the thrift store.

Try Ebay, I got three vintage waist aprons with rick rack and embroidery on them and the total was about $7. I also got one bib apron in paisley corduroy and paid about $4 total, including shipping.
I have my eye on some other vintage ones. Some get really bid up and some you can practically steal!
I will make a separate comment on how this contest has changed me and my relationsip w/my kitchen. (still a rocky one)
