I love Netflix!

Wow! It's not often I get an unsolicited email informing me I'll be paying less for something!

Dear Barbara,

We hope you're enjoying the convenience and selection of Netflix. Our goal has always been to offer a great service at a great value. Well, the great value just got better!

We are lowering the price of your current 1 at-a-time (2 per month) plan to $4.99 a month plus applicable taxes.

Your membership will automatically move to the lower price for your next billing period and be reflected in your Membership Terms and Details. The lower price will appear on your next bill on or after February 23, 2007. You will still get the same great service and convenience. So please sit back, relax and enjoy your movies!

-The Netflix Team

Just in case any of you are not Netflix members, I just want to give a little pitch. Our family's had a Netflix account since they started up - how many years ago? Maybe six or seven?

They have different plans. The one that makes sense for us is one-at-a-time two/month - which used to be 5.99, but as you can see was just lowered to 4.99.

I love Netflix because it means I don't have to go to the video store and see all those horrible covers from horrible movies - which really depresses me about the state of our culture. It means no late fees. Plus, the amazing thing about Netflix is they have EVERYTHING. For someone who loves old movies and documentaries and obscure independent films, this is a big plus.

Anyway, if you've thought about trying Netflix and never have gotten around to it, you can sign up for your choice of plans - from one like mine to some super-duper one where you can have eight movies at a time - with a free two-week trial. By using the link below you can also support this site:

They have a HUGE collection of documentaries, too. Which is great for both kids AND adults.

We love Netflix, too! We're using it right now to catch up on Season 1 of "24." It's great!

The only downside is that with no commercials and no one-week wait between episodes, it's very hard to turn it off after one episode! =)

we Love it too -- we have just started our subscription -- we are catching up on StarTrek: Enterprise from the first season right now. --

I love it because I don't have to take 3 kids to the video store and I don't have late fees and..... and.... ands.

We don't enjoy television, but we do enjoy our movies! We went with blockbuster because we got free in-store rentals, too, in case we didn't have a family movie on family movie night. A few months ago, they changed it so mailed movies can be exchanged in-store for free movies.

Barbara,

Thanks for this information about Netflix, we wondered about it many times, but never knew if it was trustworthy. After I read your spot about it we went and joined. Thanks!

I have a great find to share.. peerflix. You can trade used dvds with ease and convenience. You print out the mailing package and label onto std. paper fold the dvd and go! It works. You easily list all dvds you want and dvds you want to trade, and they arrive in your mailbox for 99 cents a piece. I started trading 20 toddler dvds and the new ones keep coming, I keep trading... its awesome. www.peerflix.com

lots of selection, security and ease, too cool.

I totally agree about Netflix Barbara! I actually used to work at Blockbuster part time while I was a starving musician and I couldn't stand cleaning those shelves with all the soft porn and horror flicks on them. It's so nice not to have to inflict that on my children by going to the store.

Blessings.

Lol! A good plug. My husband is the TV-watcher in our family, and he swears by this service. I should give it a whirl for documentaries and travel films, as they seem to be the only genres (in addition to HG-TV) that really interest me. Thanks for the heads-up!
