The best coffee in the world!
I gave up coffee for six months while dieting, but am back on the stuff now. The difference is that I'm drinking for the taste. Tripp and I've tried SO many coffee makers in our 24 years of marriage, and found that the French press method of brewing is the best. The problem is that the carafe on ours is glass and very fragile. We've had to replace it several times. This morning when I went to order a replacement at Amazon, I came across this perfect substitute:
It's a Bodum Thermal Coffee Press - made by the same people who make the glass ones I've been using. I hardly needed convincing - already knowing the wonderful taste of French press coffee - but the reviews were glowing too.
Oh my goodness, I am so excited and can't wait to get this. Because not only will it answer the breakage problem, but it also keeps coffee warm for up to two hours. Time to snuggle up and sip through my Beth Moore Bible study (she's the best too!)
By the way, I want to thank those of you supporting this site by buying everything you need at amazon - from 10 pound bags of yeast to hair clippers to nursing bras. I became hooked on this way of shopping a few years ago because it saves me so much time and money (I tend to walk out of places like Target with so much more than I went in for). When you use Amazon, don't forget when you're checking out to change the shipping option to Super Saver Shipping if your order is over $25. Then you pay no shipping costs - except on some items shipped from a third party.

I would love french-pressed coffee, but I have high cholesterol. It has been long understood that coffee can raise cholesterol, but recent studies have found that the unfiltered version are the culprits - french pressed or perculated coffees in particular.
I myself am addicted to German coffee, but allow myself only one cup a day.

I agree about French Press coffee being the best! Know what I asked for (and received) for Christmas? A 2-LITER French Press to use when company comes over! Pure bliss.....

Yum! Thanks for the tip. I've been eyeing the one at William Sonoma, but this one is cheaper.

Barbara ~
I just bought a bunch of diapers from Amazon through your site because of a special they are running. I thought others might be interested...
If you buy $99 worth of Pampers or Luvs, you get an instant $25 off and qualify for free "super-saver" shipping. Since Amazon already has the lowest price I can find on diapers, with the discount this is a great bargain!
For the discount, enter PAMPERS2 as the promotional code.
Thanks for all you do, Barbara!
Blessings~

so funny! we LOVE the french press too! I haven't seen anything quite like this, though!
My hubby just did a post on the french press and some "tips" on using it! Ours is glass too....but we haven't had any problems w/ it....YET....that's a good "heads up!"!!!

Thanks so much for the heads up! My husband and I have been planning to get a French press, and you recommended this one just in time! We would inevitably break a glass caraffe, between my slippery fingers in the kitchen and our two destructo-cats. We can't wait for our new French press to arrive. Thanks!
