Being a mommy in a me-first world
Lauren at My Choice, His Life has reprinted my Being a Mommy in a Me-First World as Part 3 of her series on Biblical Womanhood.
Thanks, Lauren! And y'all might want to go over there and read it and let us both know what you think.

You are amazing. Thank you for saying so beautifully what I can't quite get into words. I alluded to this briefly in one of my posts, but nothing like you. This way of thinking has made my life so much more beautiful.

The article speaks well to the "me first" attitude that disturbed me when reading child training books, darn if the name escapes me, you know, the one that says you can get your baby to sleep through the night within weeks? The whole attitude seemed to be: this child is an intrusion, he is sinfully demanding your time, he is a tyrant, you must discipline this bossy personality - and while I do believe there is such thing as original sin, I kept thinking, for heaven's sake, he's just a baby! He's not doing a whole lot of conscious plotting against his parents!

I can't say I'm not jealous that you and the "shrinking mom" are together at the conference. Minus the conference (I'm not much of a writer) I'd love to be with you two.
