Foods that curb your appetite

Saw this today and wanted to pass it on:

Foods that Curb Your Appetite

I agree with all of these (and the pictures were beautiful and - well - appetizing!).

Still holding steady with my 75 pound loss.

Last month we took the kids out to dinner at a new Mexiacn restaurant and - as if I was having an out-of-body experience - I watched myself order the biggest platter.

What an old idea! It was so unrewarding and just like old times, I felt like I had to eat everything on my plate.

I promised myself I would never do that again. And you know what? I knew that the loathing I felt for my poor choice after a year of non-gluttonous eating would ensure that I won't.

And how 'bout this story?

Town Has Parade for Man Who Lost 400lbs.; Still Weighs 840

Manuel Uribe, who hasn't left his house in five years, finally did just that so his town could have a parade for him, celebrating his drop in weight from 1,235 pounds to 840 pounds. He was carried by forklift onto a trailer as a mariachi band played.

The mechanic waved to people, followed by photographers and reporters as he passed by. "It fills me with joy to see he's getting better and getting a little sun. I would go crazy if I had to be inside my house for so many years," said a neighbor.

He is working with nutritionists using the Zone diet, and hopes to fulfill his goal of 265 lbs, even if it takes the anticipated 3-4 years. He also hopes to build a foundation to help others in the same situation, teaching nutritious habits to them.

Overweight is a form of bondage - that's why I recommend Beth Moore's Breaking Free for anyone who's struggling with issues of food addiction or eating disorders. Remember, he came to set captives free - and that goes for any kind of captivity. I bet there's a parade in heaven every time we give up some form of self-enslavement here on heart!

I used to be that way at restaurants, particularly Mexican. But lately, I eat what I can. If it's a meat platter (had the BEST carne asada on Saturday!), I will eat the meat and leave the rest there, if I can't finish it (this one had a slice of meat almost 2/3 the size of the oval platter!)...and didn't even finish the meat...I couldn't!

I'm down 40 lbs from my heaviest, and I will work forever to keep that off. There are so many problems in my family associated with being overweight. I will not promote it and use genetics as an excuse! It stops with me!

I agree, and it is something I struggle with still. I have lost 55 pounds so far, but have 20 more to go....I might just check that book out. I don't like weight loss books that aren't God-centered.
