Thanks for supporting this site!

I just want to thank all of you who've developed the habit of linking through this site to Amazon to do your shopping -
Thanks to you my husband is no longer supporting this site! Wa-hoo!!
You may wonder why it takes anything to support this site - why not just a blogger account? All I can say is I have issues :)
I need more bandwidth and I need tech support from my BlogGuru who has been tweaking this site and my personal website for two years now - and will soon be helping me launch Mommy, Teach Me! which will be a support and resource for moms using the ideas in my next two books.
From the bottom of my heart I want to thank all of you who are shopping at Amazon. Although I cannot see who placed any order, I do get a list of what's been purchased and you all have ordered everything from pots and pans to toddler overalls, from wine racks and fruit baskets to 10 pound bags of yeast and gluten-free pretzels, from chai tea to a tufted headboard - !!!!
Not to mention books, music and movies :)
I recommend shopping at Amazon really because it’s mutually beneficial. I’ve been doing it myself for seven years. Their prices are usually unbeatable. And I’ve been saving time and money (no taxes, gas, or impulse shopping) for a long time. Lord knows, we can all use more time and less wear and tear on the kids. Yes, it’s nice to go grocery shopping and teach them all about fruits and vegetables, but most kids have a limited amount of time they want to spend in stores that bring out the browser in us.
Don’t forget that when it’s birthday time, check out the listings under Barbara’s Picks (and pass it on to grandparents too!) to avoid wasting money on something that looks fun but doesn’t have staying power or real value in your child’s development. Barbara’s Picks isn’t just about recommending products – there’s also a lot of information there about WHY something works. General information that can empower you to make wise choices: for example, never buy a product for your preschoolers that uses capital letters rather than lower case. Teach them lower case and phonetic sound before they move on to the names and capital letters.
My biggest frustration is that I haven’t had time to load more Barbara’s Picks. I have a whole list of movies I want to share, for instance. But I promise to keep working on building this resource for you.
In the meantime, whatever’s on your list, search for it first at Amazon - just link through the Amazon link in my sidebar. Over the years, I’ve really found online shopping to be a real blessing – just a few days ago I needed dance shoes for the younger kids, took them to Wal-Mart – in and out of the car, through the aisles – only to find they don’t carry them anymore. Back home, it took me ten minutes to find some on line. They were here two days later.
Online shopping has been a real blessing for me. I’m glad so many of you are discovering this too – and so grateful for your support!

I got turned on to shopping at Amazon over the holidays this year. I think the enjoyment of packages at the front door far outweighs the shlepping through the stores with kids in tow.
I think Amazon is getting a little too good at what they do though....this morning I was discussing with my mom, the need to purchase a good first-aid kit for our newly aquired cottage. It was the first time the thought had crossed my mind. When I clicked your link this morning, under Amazon's suggestions for purchase were three different first-aid kits! Spooky mind reading I think!

This was so not the point of the post, but thanks for the tip on teaching letters. My daughter (7 months) has a ways to go yet, but I'll definitely file that information away.
Thanks for all of your useful tips and helpful advice! I really enjoy your site.
