The face of the Pro-Abortion movement
![]()
From left, United Church of Christ ministers Robert Patterson and Janice Edwards Barnes stand next to United Methodist minister Wally Shearburn in front of a St. Louis Planned Parenthood office. Each year on the Saturday closest to the Roe v. Wade Jan. 22 anniversary, clergy from Missouri Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice rally in front of the clinic to support its staff, an organizer said.
If you're interested in finding out how people who claim to love God can advocate killing the youngest and must vulnerable of his creation, read here.
Also - isn't it interesting: the Aging White Baby Boomers on the pro-abortion side (I refuse to call it pro-choice since Planned Parenthood really doesn't offer women an informed choice with support either way, but pushes abortion as though it were a sacrament and because it's their money-making industry) while feminsts/liberal media are always accusing the Pro-Life movement of being all white middle-aged males?
For contrast, vist my photo album from the March for Life 2007.
Read about and listen to an African-American perspective at Abortion and African-American genocide.
After being at the March myself for two years, three words come to mind about the pro-life movement: youth, vitality, diversity.
Oh yeah, and respect for our Creator - trust that through Him even what seems to us - in our limited vision - the greatest misfortune/inconvenience/tragedy can be turned to great good.

As a Black pastor, I'm extremely disheartened that these clergy of Christian denominations are so seemingly proud to go on record as supporting the destruction of unborn babies.
One retired pastor quoted in the article asserted, "Jesus never said anything about abortion." He said this to justify his support of terminating human life in the womb. Apparently, since Jesus didn't specifically say, "You shall not kill a baby in the womb," it must be OK. It seems to me that when Jesus endorsed the Old Testament command: "You shall not murder," that that would cover abortion.
Following this retired pastor's logic, since Jesus also said nothing specifically about rape, incest or child pornography we should support these as well.

This type of things galls me to no end. That same platform they are fervently supporting, also supports the eugenic elimination of children with disabilities. I would love to hear them try to twist the gospel into an explanation about how that is OK in God's eyes.
Yes, Barbara, there were many references to the 60's in that article...thank God that mindset is slipping away with those people who have no inclination to extend a hand of help to a scared pregnant person except to conveniently make it a non-issue for the rest of society. Gets them religious folks off the hook tout suite. Even though the bible directs them to be a welcoming house and a people of compassion. Their idea of compassion doesn't take too much sweat of their brow or money from their purse.
I chuckled at the reference to the fact that free-will is given to us by God. Indeed it is, and we can choose from many evils with that free will, including abortion I guess.

Groups like the RCRC are far more evil in my eyes than Planned Parenthood. RCRC misleads believers into thinking that their abortion was not a sin, therefor taking away the ability to repent. Planned Parenthood has no religious authority.
I find it so hard to believe that pastors can lead their congregation into such sin and call it "God's will". It's as though certain people missed out on that whole "thou shalt not kill" thing.
There is also the argument, made repeatedly by Paul, that if something is not *techincally* a sin, but is not glorifying to God, it has no place in a Christian's life. Therefore, the "Jesus never said the word "abortion" argument slips away.

I praise God for your voice on behalf of children in and out of the womb! Psalm 8:2

It's impossible to reconcile Scriptures with support for abortion.
Support for abortion says:
1. You can't trust God to provide or to sustain you.
2. You should rely in your own wisdom, not His.
3. We owe nothing whatsoever to our own children, much less widows, orphans, the wayfarer, etc.
4. Shedding innocent blood can be done with God's blessing.
Abortion turns the entire Bible, and everything Jesus came to teach, upside-down.

It is sad to see so many people of faith supporting a barbaric practice like abortion...
This further depletes my faith in human kind.
I would have thought that all people with Jesus in their lives would stand together to condemn abortion......
These words come from an atheist...........

Well this is nothing new in our Marin County, north of San Francisco. Many mainstream churches are pro-abortion in the Bay Area. I am NOT surprised by your photo and story, Barb. That is more normal. We have about 14 churches in our entire county who support the Pregnancy Resource Center of Marin. Those churches are faithful as are their pastors. I salute them!
