Golly! Is that what we mean by 'national pride'? Or should that be pride in one's own particular State?

yes, here in the United States, we feel not only national pride but pride in our state. Every state has its own state flag, state song, state flower, state motto, etc. Sports also solidifies that feeling of togetherness. It's probably very helpful in such a large country and during times like this when a traumatic event effects a particular state.
