Kids with disabilities - coping with the stress on marriage
Dear Barbara,I appreciated your post today, May 18th (99 Balloons update). I needed to hear what you said about marriage to know that my husband and I are not alone in this sometimes crazy world! :) We had 3 children diagnosed with disablities in a 12 month period, and it has not been easy. One of those children has autism, and I feel like my husband and I disagree more about him than anything else. We are committed to working through this, and we know that with God's help, we can, but sometimes it is difficult. It just helped me to realize that we are not alone.
God bless you as you minister to people,
Amanda
Hi Amanda -Hang in there! It's a tough ride, but well worth it. Don't think I don't have my days when I'm ready to throw in the towel and asking God WHY? But my job is to encourage us all and keep us focused on the positive.
It helps when moms like you write to remind me I'm not alone either.
love,
barbara
How about it? What kind of challenges has raising a child with disabilities presented to your marriage? And how have you coped - or not?
