American Idol Jordin Sparks is pro-abstinence and pro-life!

jordin.jpg

This news is a little old (and thank you to Becky for reminding me - even though it took me a while to plow through my Inbox), but in case anyone has missed it, 17-year-old American Idol winner Jordin Sparks is 100% pro-life and 100% outspoken about it.

jordinabortion.jpg This comes as no surprise, since Jordin’s artistic career was largely begun in the realm of Christian music, singing at her own home church, Calvary Community Church, and at other Christian festivals. In 2004 she finished second at the Music in the Rockies competition, which is a competition for aspiring Christian musicians. She has also toured with and recorded songs with several other well-known Christian artists.

She appears on Fox & Friends this week with Brian Kilmeade who asked her questions based on emails from viewers. Sparks was asked about a ring she wears on her wedding ring finger even though she is 17 year-old and unmarried.

She said, without hesitation, that it was her Purity Ring, and that it says she's waiting until she is married, and saving herself for true love.

She was also homeschooled - and her father is outspoken Christian and former football star Phillipi Sparks.

I've written before about the preponderance of American Idol finalists who are Christians - it's just gonna happen because we grow up singing - in church and at home. Starting kids singing early is the key to developing their voices. When people ask me how our family produced so many great singers, I explain it's just because we got up every morning and sang hymns together. And that's the truth!

Love,

This is wonderful news. Thanks for sharing. I sort of liked Blake Lewis the most, but ever since he sang "Imagine", I lost total respect for him.

Barbara, this has nothing to do with American Idol, it's just the only way I can send this to you this morning with wiggly ones afoot! I say a public service announcement last night on Youtube called "Think Before You Post" aimed at teens. I can't get the link right, but if you go to youtube and search you can see it. It is very well done and makes the point about what we put online as a permanent event. I think you will like it and might want to pass it on to other readers.

HOORAY! I don't really watch AI, but that is SO great!!!!!! I'm glad she won!

I'm also so happy to hear about other families that sing together! We sing every night after supper and it is such a special and blessed time for us!

I have heard this, but not being a huge idol fan it didn't rejister. Thank You for putting it out there, again. It is nice to know that not all talent in Hollywood is liberal.

I had no idea about any of this. My mom and dad watch american idol, so I sent her the link to your post. She wrote me back saying how much she appreciated knowing this. Thanks for posting this!

I'm going to have to buy a hymnal for me and my kids to sing from every morning! I love hymns anyway, so I know I'd enjoy it very much. I bought that hymns cd you recommend on your site - thanks for the recommendation. It's a good cd!
