Explore and print art masterpieces at home

vermeer.jpg

Jessica of Farm Fresh Iowa reminded me of this wonderful resource - so I want to share it with you again. Plus she had a neat idea for bringing art more vividly into her children's lives:

Just having finished The Mommy Manual, I'm eagerly looking for ways to get art into my home. I ran across this site: Web Gallery of Art - which is terrific! One can search words like "play" or "reading" and up will pop classical works of art on that topic to print off and post into one's own little gallery. I am going to make sort of a clothesline at tot level on a kitchen wall to be able to easily change them out, as well as frame some for my daughters' room and our soon to be reading nook.

Thanks for all you do.

I didn't know that about searching by topic - what a great idea!

Being able to download and print beautiful art for free is truly a blessing! And I do love Jessica's idea about the clothesline as that means her children's interest will get a fresh spark - you know how sometimes you stop seeing the beautiful things around you just because they're always there? Switching the masterpieces is a great idea.

I'll be adding this to the Mommy Teach Me site as well, under Other Resources.

Thanks, Jessica!

Love,

Thank you for sharing this great resource. I don't believe I've heard of it before, but it looks like it will be a huge help for finding art prints. And the price is right!

Barbara, do you know of any online art galleries that would be easier for a child to navigate? All the ones I've found are somewhat complicated in just getting to a picture and then getting to the next one.

We have also photocopied and framed pictures from some of our kids favorite books. We like art but love books so it fit us to have art from books on the walls. Another possiblity for kids.
