Record wedding day

weddings.jpg

The normal number of weddings on any given summer Saturday is about 12,000, but today Saturday, July 7, there are more than 30,000 weddings taking place.

7/7/07 happens only once in a century and this one falls on a Saturday.

I never thought about it 'til I heard it on the news. There are stories all over the Internet as every local paper, it seems, has done the story with a focus on a local couple marrying today.

I'll bet there are a lot of people gambling on 7/7/07 too :)

Anyone going to a wedding today?

Love,

We are! My cousin is getting married...at 7pm on 7/7/07. He is going to need a real good excuse if he ever forgets his anniversary, isn't he? :)

I am not GOING to a wedding today but a dear - dear internet friend of mine is getting married today -- and the funny part about their wedding date is that they just picked the day looking at he calender and said that the first Saturday in July would work well for all involved and didn't even realize it was 7-7-07 until she typed it up on a message board we are both a part of. But it has been easier to remember when she is getting married now........

We're not going to a wedding today, but we are celebrating my hubbie's 36th birthday today!! He said when he was a kid, he dreamed of this future birthday and wondered what our world would be like in 2007!!!

So, happy birthday, Dean!!!! I love you!

Not going to a wedding....but celebrating our 6th anniversary. If we had only gotten married 7/7/2000 instead this would be our 7th on 7/7/07 which would be rather funny. Didn't dawn on me either about the date until I saw a news story on it. It should be easy for everyone getting married today to remember. Sort of like getting married in 2000 would have made it easy for anyone to remember how long they had been married.

I went to a baby's delivery this morning - but mom was 2 minutes late to get the 07:07 on 07/07/07! Oh well - close enough. (07:09 was the time)

I went to my cousin's daughter's wedding. The bride and groom went to Liberty, so your sons may know them--Matthew and Brittany.

A whole bunch of people from our church went to TWO weddings yesterday. Two guys from our church had their brides independently pick the 7-7-7 date as their preferred wedding date.

When the second groom announced the date we informed him it was the same as the first groom's date, so the guys sat down and worked out that one would be a morning and one would be an evening wedding. If the weddings hadn't been the same day they would have been each other's groomsmen.

They were both out of town weddings, so everyone that went to both had a total of 7 hours of driving to do. We took our 2 year old and he was as good as could be expected, napping most of the drive, though my husband had to take him out of the ceremonies because he was about to start really fussing about sitting still. We're glad we took him though, he was invited and as both brides are anxious to be moms, he really added to the "family flavor" of the events. Many great memories were also created.

On that note, any tips on getting young kids to sit still and be quiet for church and other solemn events?

I went to a wedding yesterday. My brothers. He is a marine so it was wonderful to see him anyway, thankfully at this point he is still in the USA. It was lovely and I made the wedding cake. If anyone wants to see the pics it is on my blog http://lifenkansas.blogspot.com/
