That was a wonderful story. I don't often like Disney Channel movies, but there was one fairly recently about twin high-schoolers where the sister was 'normal' and the brother was mentally disabled (not Downs). Shia LaBeouf played the disabled brother and it was just beautiful, with main part of the story being the sister's realization as an older teen that her brother would never 'catch up' to her now, and how she learned to just love him where he was. I wonder if this family was part of the inspiration for it.
