Hattie's surgery tomorrow at 8 AM

It's been a waiting game at the hospital for Hattie, Josh and Hattie's family.

This morning doctors used a scope procedure to determine the amount of circulation to the tumor and to contain it before the operation. As it turned out, there was quite a bit, and so this precaution will prevent more blood loss than necessary.

Though they planned to perform the surgery today, there was evidently trouble assembling the team - and so it has been postponed until 8:00 AM tomorrow morning.

Now we all have a time to be praying together that the doctors' hands will be smooth and steady. There are always risks working around the spinal cord - and they are not yet certain whether Hattie's difficulties walking were due to the pressure of the tumor or because of spinal cord damage - which they could see in the MRI.

Since they are a couple hours from home, Josh has not been home yet. I told him if he could find some Internet access to read the comments you have sent. Also read the Elisabeth Elliot devotional I posted the other day - Difficulties are Proof Contexts. it was only a day before this trial beset Josh and Hattie, but it seems so apropos.

Love,

Isaiah 49:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

The surgeon's hand are but a tool in HIS hand to bring healing to His daughter, Hattie. HIS hand is steady, HIS work is smooth.

Elisabeth Elliot always finished her show with the words,

"You are loved with an everlasting love and underneath are His everlasting arms."

While His hands are steady for the surgeon, His everlasting arms are holding her secure in His care.

We serve a faithful God!

Just lifted Hattie as well as Josh up to our Heavenly Father--that He would guide the surgeons as they do what they can to restore/maintain her ability to walk, that they would remove all of the tumor, and that ultimately His will would be done.
Looking forward to an update!
