Saved from Suicide - an incredible testimony
I feel truly privileged to have stumbled upon a brand new blog by a man who - well, I'm not going to say any more - you must go NOW and read the third and latest entry at
Then back up and read the first two.
Thanks to Leslie, who sent me this link mostly because of the debate we had last Christmas about the value of Veggie Tales. I'm guessing that when Phil Vischer hears this story he will be on his knees sobbing as I was at the power of an Almighty God to work through something so simple and - some would say - stupid - to reach those the wise write off as unreachable.
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise;
God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
~ 1 Corinthians 1:27
Cliff, I'm not a suicide survivor, but I am also a former cynic/alcoholic/unreachable creature whose only thing going was a love of my children. Your story reminds me - as I now remind everyone I meet over and over and over - that God is full of surprises and mercy and love. Your life is a testimony to His reality. I hope you never grow tired of telling the story.
And please email me - anyone who writes with such simplicity and authenticity needs to be published where more people can read. When you are ready, I'd like to help.

I am so glad you read it-- I just knew it was your kind of story. God can truly use anything and anybody for His purposes, even a silly tomato!
Love
Leslie
PS I found the link at Phil Vischer's blog
And yes he was touched!

Barbara, we have a good friend who works for Big Idea, and I forwarded this link to him today. He has now forwarded it to everyone at Big Idea!!
What an amazing testimony! You have to go back and read Part IV -- The Wife -- which he added today!
Thanks so much for sharing this with your readers.
Blessings,
Beth

Thanks so much for sharing that! I really got to thinking about rethinking VeggieTales after your posts about them, but have to conclude that I love the sweetness and humor about them, and feel like I know Mike and Phil personally. The Easter Carol never fails to make me cry. I probably won't ever own the nativity set, but I will keep on watching the videos, especially after reading about this man's experience. Awesome.
