Special Needs Cheerleading Team on Good Morning America October 1

destiny.jpg

Back to the story on the Gaithersburg, MD very special cheerleading team Destiny, I just received the following message:

Hi,

I wanted to let you know that Good Morning America (ABC) will be running a story on Monday, Oct. 1 about the cheerleading team "Destiny" that my daughter Clare (DS/ASD)is on. They will be filming the team practicing at their gym in Gaithersburg, MD and interviewing some of the families and girls on the team. On Monday morning the team will be performing live in Times Square! They will also be interviewed by ABC radio after the TV show. It was so exciting when the team was on the front page of the Washington Post on last Friday we didn't think it could get any better. We are proud of Clare and her team mates and touched by the response we have gotten from all.

Paula

Our TV is turned off right now - has been for almost two months. We are saving 65./month and a lot of time for other stuff. I hope somehow this ends up on YouTube - especially the team performing in Times Square - yippee!!!

Love,

oh wow! i somehow missed this one! i went back and read the article and watched the videos and it both gave me chills and brought me to tears. I cheered for over 6 years through middle school and highschool, but I know the things being accomplished with these squads is so much MORE than anything i ever did or hoped to do. I was the "flyer" and i have to admit, watching some of the stunts they did totally took my breath away!
