Making her mama proud
Maddy is auditioning for her school play this afternoon. Last night she showed me this contract she had to sign and I was so pleased with what she had written:
I know in ninth grade my handwriting may have been better, but not the contents of my heart. This is the result of growing up with God in your life - not just going to church on Sunday, but actually learning how to trust Him every day to show you how to live for others rather than yourself.
I can't help but think that part of who Maddy is has been shaped by growing up in the midst of four brothers with Down syndrome. What may seem a hardship to others she has allowed God to reveal as a blessing. Her beauty comes from the inside out.

I am so proud of her! 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

Oh Barbara,
This is wonderful. They are already at the gates blessing you and Mr. Curtis! Praise God!
Don't worry about handwriting. In ninth grade, my handwriting looked about like that or worse! So bad, in fact, that my mom was so surprised I learned to write neatly! (It really is amazing the skills we decide we really need to develop once we have children! I wanted my children to be able to read their scrapbooks!)

This actually brought tears to my ears. Looks like she has your writing genes.

Barbara, I am proud of Maddy too! She is such a blessing to her brothers with Down Syndrome, and at the same time, they are a blessing to her too! Love works in both the giving and the receiving. My tenth and youngest child, Samuel, has D.S. and one of the things that I am looking forward to is the unfolding of the lives of our 9 older children and how he is positively affecting them. I enjoy reading your blog because since your children with D.S. are older than Samuel, you are already seeing how their lives have shaped your other children's lives. It is so amazing to see God's plan for our families unfold. Love, Julie

Oh I got tears in my eyes when I read that. What a beautiful, Godly child you've raised.
