Busy day, but will get back with more

Another one of those days when my spirit is spinning with ideas and thoughts, but God has lined up other priorities.

The kids have off school today so I got up early in my usual modern twist on Proverbs 31 to mail all my ebay packages, trying to rid our house of unnecessary stuff and to bring in some extra money - and to send off faxes to different LCPS school personnel who seem to regard their main job as bossing parents around and thwarting their efforts to see that their children receive the services our lawmakers have commandeered your tax dollars to provide.

More about those ongoing battles later.

I also published comments here and at The Miz Report, where Huckabee is the hot topic - if you are interested you may want to check that out.

I really appreciate the love and concern you all have expressed about my spiritual journey. And as I said in my comment today under that pro-life thread, I will be sharing the process. I just don't have time today.

That's because I'm leaving in a few minutes to take the kids to the Natural History Museum in DC. We are so blessed to live near the Smithsonian. But since my favorite museum - American History - is closed for renovations, we are going to the one next door. I'm taking Maddy, her friend Jack, Jonny, Jesse, Daniel and Justin.

On the way home I plan to detour off the George Washington Parkway to Gravelly Point. For those of you from this area, this is a fun place to stop - a spit of land directly across from the Reagan National Airport runway. It's really exciting to stand there and watch the planes either coming in or going out - depending how it's set up that day. The planes are incredibly close to the ground - closer than any place I've ever seen - so it's very adrenaline-producing.

For those of you with comments on the maternity-wear question, do get in touch with Tony - he seems like a nice guy. I wrote him:

I just had some thoughts to share as someone who was pregnant nine times between 1969 and 1993 - and who now writes and speaks for young moms so sees them up close and personal.

Women have a lot more freedom now to show off the fact that they're pregnant. Historically in America clothes were constructed to hide or minimize what women now call "the bump." Twenty years ago it would have been unacceptable to wear a clingy shirt around a pregnant belly - but people seem to have realized that the pregnant feminine form does indeed have a beauty that deserves to be admired.

I posted your follow up thoughts. My crowd is mostly pretty conservative - but they do have a lot of babies :)
